Good news for BOS, since they are implementing it use. This is a game changer. The latest OR prototype has a very low latency, higher resolution, 6DOF, no motion blur, with no more reports of motion sickness. Investors after seeing the latest build have poured another 75 million into the project, still on course for a holiday release in 2014. That said the developers haven't stated exactly when it will be released until they have all their ducks in order. http://techcrunch.com/2013/12/13/oculus-vr-oculus-rift-strategy-projections/http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/con...le-sick-1207927

but still only 65mm between the eyes. no good for me. and I really really want one! I thought there was ability to move lenses closer / further away.... Day one purchase for me....I'm even contemplating getting HD-Dev kit.

I am very interested in this but not as an impulse buy. I want to see decent reviews before I buy.
I do think this is the next step in gaming though.

As my left eye barely works, I'll pass and stick with TrackIR.

I guess I should have said, there is a way to adjust them. https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4646

The problem Ian has is the distance between his pupils not the distance of the lenses to the eye. As the lenses appear to be at a fixed distance apart, then if your eyes are closer/further apart then you will get blurring as you're not looking through the centre of the lenses. To be honest I'd be surprised if the consumer version is released with fixed lenses as the variation in the population would be massively varied. but still only 65mm between the eyes. no good for me. and I really really want one! I thought there was ability to move lenses closer / further away.... Day one purchase for me....I'm even contemplating getting HD-Dev kit.

Yes I hope the distance between lenses,(if in-fact the consumer version still employs lenses) is adjustable as my PD is around 72/73. I know the current dev kit can change lenses, and adjust the distance from the lens, so I have to think they will employ some lateral adjustment aswell.
The developers are saying that future OR's will be the size of sunglasses that will have their own cpu/gpu, so there is some tech possible that will not require deep lenses.

No I have asked them and it will be fixed at 65mm You had me worried that I wouldn't be able to use the Rift also, so I contacted the developer. Dieter (Oculus VR Support) Dec 18 11:28 AM (PST) Hello Jim, We include a configuration utility that allows you to either measure or manually input your IPD. It can set the IPD up to a maximum of 99.9mm. You should be able to use the Rift without any issues. Hope this helps, Dieter Oculus VR Support
