Still a WIP and looking forward whats to come from 777 and dcs when its available.

More stuff is added to each version. Current version is the first where you can use weapons.

I just joined, too. Here's to that "next level" we love so much. I am optimistic and am cheering the new 1C company on to greater heights! smile

Trim is currently not modeled. I'm not sure how it can be compared to "rbj trim on a slider" when it's function is absent.

There is a stabilizer function in the settings/controls tab for the Me 109. it does work like trim on a slider. Trim isn't modeled though, you are right. Some, myself included, use the above mentioned control assignment for trim on that plane.

I know this is an alpha, but I'm really disappointed that trim wasn't included yet. It's a basic and important function - especially for the LaGG.

In setup, a few keys down from pitch trim is one called adjustable stabilizer. Map that as if it were trim. It works fine on the 109. I have not got it to work on the LaGG3 though.

I'm sure they are working on how to actually implement trim properly rather than hack it in like the old Il-2 series did.

In the old Il-2 series the trim manipulated the entirety of the control surfaces, that's why it was so super effective and the "trim on a slider" worked the way it did. If properly modeled, it will only deflect an area equivalent to 5 to 10% of the control surface rather than the whole surface.

I'd rather they look at how to get it right rather than just hack it in or go with a "good enough" approach.

I'm not surprised, as Trim was completely omitted from RoF (I know it's not realistic for MOST of the aircraft from that period, but as an option it would have been nice). I have a feeling it was omitted more because they didn't want to deal with it, with 'historical accuracy' being just a cover. The lack of inclusion in the BoS alpha supports this.

Here's hoping this is a sooner, rather than later, feature. As you mention, it's an Alpha build and all, but this seems like a feature that should be baked in right along side the other axis controls.

A bit annoyed the controls are listed there though, took me 20 min of toying around before i realized it wasn't that I was doing anything wrong.

It's not quite trim in RoF, it's more the entire stabilizer being moved like the 109's horizontal stabilizer in it's entirety being adjusted rather than the elevator itself or a trim tab.

But yes, trim tabs are historically inaccurate for all WWI aircraft that are modeled in RoF. There are modern day replicas that have trim tabs added, but they are not originally designed that way and it's a modern day inclusion to reduce pilot workload but not historically accurate.

They didn't put trim in WWI aircraft because it didn't exist, the "historical inaccuracy" being a cover is quite simply a ridiculous statement.

...as well as the Triplane, RE8, DH4, and the Bristol F.2B. Strutter probably will too.
