The clickable cockpit divide, I think, comes around 1965.
That's when the concept of aircraft died in favor of weapons platform.
Props through early jets had aircraft with weapons on them. When missiles and radar came along, the aircraft was simply a delivery system, something to manage in order to bring the munitions into the proper aspect for delivery.
So the Ka-50 in Black Shark really needs a clickable cockpit for the ABRISS and other stuff, a Bell 47 simulation really doesn't. Heck, an AH-1 simulation really wouldn't need it.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

I've flown both the DCS: P-51 and BoS and I have to say the difference is a lot smaller than I initially expected. Granted, BoS lacks a detailed start-up process. But then I get the engine started in the DCS:P-51 in 10 seconds. 10 seconds, then it's all about flying. And in that regard the aircraft in BoS seem to offer the full selection of engine controls: throttle, prop pitch, mixture, radiator, oil cooler, etc.
Would I prefer a full manual start up sequence in BoS? Yup. Is it a big deal for me? Nope.
What will make or break the game for me will be the flight and damage models, the AI, the campaign and the general immersion and atmosphere.
Agreed. The main difference between DCS P51 and the Lagg is the lack of basic startup and the clickable pit which don't bother me that much, of course they are very different aircraft. FM feel wise they seem to be on a par, maybe the DCS product has the edge in engine modelling, the BOS engines seem more robust, of course BOS is still very much WIP. Critical flight systems are modelled in both, mixture, prop pitch, oil radiator, water radiator, supercharger.
