What are your observations so far when it comes to landing in BoS? Describe your approach speeds and other settings as you prepare to land your favorite aircraft. smile

I think both the LaGG and the 109 in BoS are pretty easy to land.

1.) Flaps and gear full down
2.) in 109 make sure tailwheel is locked
3.) approach speed ~180-200kph
4.) then it's just a matter of pulling gently on the stick to keep the nose slightly up until the plane touches down

BTW here's a vid of one of my 1st landings in the 109:

I'm with Para Bellum, the 109 is not too difficult to land. But it is certainly more of a challenge in BoS than getting a 109 down was in IL2
You really do need to set up your approach properly.

I keep my approach speed at about 200 kph Full flaps and gear down.
Not tried to lock my tailwheel though, might give that a go smile

Yep neither plane are hard so long as you deploy full flaps and are prepared to keep her straight with the rudder. I try and cross the threshold at about 170km/h and flare just before hitting.

I find takeoff harder, for landing you just give yourself some room, set the flaps and ride the stall down to the ground.

FWIW I don't find the DCS P51 particularly hard to fly within the "normal" flight envelope either. I took off flew a circuit and landed without trouble. I'm certainly not a great pilot but when you've spent a lot of time with flight sims, decent control setup withstanding, it becomes a bit like riding a bike.

Now being effective in combat, that's another thing entirely confused

I find the BOS alpha/beta takeoffs easier than the original IL-2, and the landing a little harder. The aircraft are stable which makes its easy to put bullets on target, but that's usually a combination of aircraft stability, shooter ability, hitbox size, and damage model. Its definitely much easier than COD, and if all else being relatively equal, it should help garner a large community.
