So I'm trying to learn this wonderful sim, but I guess I need some help. Its so frustrating to fly all the way to target area, maneuver into potision behind an enemy plane, and then as I try to aim and fire, my aim is all over the place. Even the most slightest of input, and I just can't keep my aim true. By the time I put a few rounds on the target, I'm out of ammo. I'll never be an ace at this rate, lol.

Could it be this crappy T-Flight HOTAS X I'm using, or is there a way to calm that down with settings? Sry if this is a newbie question, Just getting frustrated that's all. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks you,
Buddy

Under Options > Responses it helps to set your roll and pitch to have S-curves (there's a button for it). It's kinda smooth out how the game interprets control inputs.

I should also add that gunnery in the game in general is a very difficult skill to acquire. The guns aren't exactly accurate at farther ranges.

It also depends on the plane you're flying. The Camel in particular is very twitchy with full fuel and bombs carried, and the French planes seem to me more sensitive to rudder input. SE5 is quite stable, try that for comparison if you haven't already.

Ok, after setting roll and pitch to S-curves, its much better. Thanks Peally. Also, TagTaken2 you are right. Some planes are more twitchy than others.
In fact I got my first kill flying the SE5. I was so close however that when it fell apart, debris from the enemy plane broke off my propeller lol. Was able to glide back into our side of the front and perform a dead stick landing in a field, with artillery blowing up all around me. That was a lot of fun!

Can't wait to get a better HOTAS tho. After my old Saitek X36 gave up the ghost, (I know, I'm getting old) had to buy this cheap T-Flight HOTAS X cause I'm broke. At least I have CH pro pedals. Altho it sucks not having trackir.

Salute

Easy fix: unlimited ammo (and fuel) until you get the hang of it.

Sounds like you've learned to get close enough.

In WWI it wasn't uncommon to have to clean blood from the front of the windscreen.

Hey there...
I have a follow up question on the settings. I have bought the weapons mod of the Lewis machine gun mounted on the top wing. The key command for this is the up and down arrows on the keyboard, but you can only raise it all the way up, roughly 90 degrees, or pointing straight out from the wing, 45 degrees.

I was wondering if I could map this command to my mouse wheel to give me the freedom to scroll the gun up and down in small increments to say 30 degrees angle up or maybe 80 degrees, almost straight up. Anyone try this yet ??

Thanks !
Tracy

It's either up or down, you can't adjust the angle.
