Thanks xcom ill give it a try. My concern is that things that are broken now weren't necessarily broken then- but I appreciate the link and ill see if it can help me through the issues I'm having!

You are saying you are having an issue with multiple holds for the same unit at different wps?

Yeah... I put the mission in this thread here so you can see how it's set up if you wanted to take a gander.

Ok, I'll look at it, it caught my eye as I have a mission I am drawing up that I want to use something similar...

Just be advised guys as well- there is an update available and the Firehouse is updated. From what I've read it's a relatively small download absent of any of the fixes we're excited about... I can only hope they're inbound!

The update isn't available on Steam yet it seems, auto-updater hasn't grabbed anything lately.

Grimes identified the issue with my sa8 groups...

Also Wesley you probably know this already but it'll only check every 24 hours - did you try to do it manually as well?

Wesley -
Did you get that Warthog?

Have you thought about getting the regular DCS World & Modules downloads, instead of using Steam? Your product keys from Steam will work...

Sorry for the Hiatus, I've been frustrated and busy! So here's some news on the matters....

1) Warthog:
Still on order via Tiger Direct.....ordered Nov02/13, 3rd part supplier, typically window for shipping is 10-30 days and it looks like 30 will be what I get! The site Eno mentioned before was out of stock when I was looking previously (going back to end of July)........... Tiger Direct is my 3rd order - it seems every time I order it has JUST gone out of stock and by the time I would cancel it would be back in stock. GAH! banghead

2) Video:
I got mostly done the video and a friend pointed out that it would be much to long, to which I agreed. I decided to break it into four videos - FlyBy/Action clips, Offensive Actions, Defensive Actions and Mission Dialogs. I got nearly done splitting it into tracks, after re-encoding it (Premiere Elements doesn't support variable frame rates so I had to convert it to constant) only to find that Premiere Elements also doesn't have the option to disable a track (like disabling a layer in photoshop). Such basic features...... I'm pushing forward AND looking for new software aswell - but forget Adobe. Their professional level editor is $800 and the new "Creative Cloud" suite which is subscription is pointless - I care not for the cloud server access. Looking into a Sony Vegas version, their best consumer level product is $130 and seems to offer quite a bit!

3) Steam:
With my bandwidth limits and such, a re-download would be a pain. DCS updated today or last night for me. Not to worry. The bigger patches in the last couple months were usually same day. Not sure why this one was delayed.

The editing is a tad more critical as I have some other projects in planning stages that depend on it, which is why it frustrates me so much! I had some old Roxio software ages ago that could do all that, but it's not HD nor Windows 7 compatible.....

FIREHOUSE NOTICE:

Eh guys- just wanted to take a quick moment to address something that came up recently. If you've been coming into the Firehouse for awhile and suddenly get some connection interrupted notices each time you join, there is a VERY good likelihood that either SLMOD has kicked / banned you for something (you need to be kicked out twice by SLMOD before it applies a ban) or I have reviewed the logs and found something that didn't mesh with the overall spirit of the server or SimHQ's TS3 regs.

Fact is, most of the time these kicks / bans are not done with prejudice and if you drop me a line I can clear it up with you, explain what happened and then just drop your name off the list. I've had a couple guys recently message me and inquire as to what happened, I went through the logs and figured out it was an innocent mistake or oversight. That simple.

As people become more familiar to the group- Wesley is a great example since he's come in with guns blazing and been a great asset to the overall effort- SLMOD will turn a blind eye.

I take the new Firehouse Mission Statement straight from Phoenix Fire Department:

"Be Nice."

Follow that, and you'll be welcome to the Firehouse so long as it stays up.

We miss you buddy! Hope you are having a good time in the new place!

I am still here. Still researching the internet thing. I am on the expansion list for DSL in my area. I have been told I am good in the area, they just need to run the lines. They gave me no time frame so I am at the mercy of the phone company.(so it could be a couple of years nope. I have also researched several other options AT&T has a Hot spot option which might be ok for Gaming however to get updates would be difficult. You only get 5gig a month. Plus I am not 100% sure the gaming would work either.

And then there is satilite. Which is probably what I will use between now and when DSL gets in service. Currently I don't even have a PC setup. I haven't found the proper spot for the PC yet... but we are getting there. We are still sort of living out of boxes. I am sure I will be settled before Christmas. After that I will work on the rust that has obviously built up on the Huey.

On a side note, I was home sick Monday and I had an A-10 buzz the house. Normally when they go buy they are low but this pilot must have been trying to beat a wintery mix back to base cuz he was moving faster than I have seen them fly before. He kinda scared the crap out of me. My little dog Rex (miniture Yorkie) just about came unglued. I opened the front door and he took off running snarling and barking in the direction the A-10 had flown. He was gone for some time and I was starting to get worried that he would come home with a Warthog in his mouth. He just loves retrieving stuff. biggrin

Hey, Mol!

It's about time state legislatures step up and require at least DSL level Internet like they do for telephone and electricity services.

I looked at the Hughes Net stuff -- but they say on their website that the lag time is too much for gaming. Hope the DSL to you is sooner rather than later. Have you talked to your neighbors...?

---

I'm on holiday! Working on Herky Jerk. I got advice at DCS Forums about using five digit flags as 'Is User Flag' values, which lets me apply my flag scheme to these Advanced Waypoint Action conditions -- yahoo!

Satellite and gaming just does not work. Huges net has ok bandwidth BUT your ping time will be like 700 ms at best. Also has a data plan deal that you don't want to exceed. Was on that for a LONG year. biggrin But better than my previous sat internet experience in Iraq. OMG made dial up look REAL good. But it was a connection to home so eh.

Look around for ALL the options for wireless internet. They CAN work. Was on a pretty good 4G deal a few years back. But was not rural. The Rural hotspots find out HOW far from a cell tower you are. If you can help it any LOS between tower and receiver does wonders. It CAN work vary well for gaming. If an excellent connection is pretty good. Not as good as a line but vary workable.

Hey flashburn,

I am about 90 miles... which ain't good Download was 1.17Mg up load was .55mg and 200 was the ping... Not sure what you mean by LOS.

Go this info from a Phone ap that I downlaoded called OOKLA Speed test.

My question is How long will 5 gig last? if I am on a 5 gig/month plan and we get an update for DCS I will eat up that 5 gigs quick.

LOS = line of sight biggrin

5 Gig...not long at all. Its plenty if all you do is web serf. Anything else =( Like stream a movie that could be...1GB right there (probably not that bad). 90 miles? THere HAS to be a cell tower or relay closer than that.

Alas for game play I really dont know what that would equal too. If they have a BETTER plan that cost more =(. There also may well be more than one company that provides service. If you are rural which I am guessing you are, there may be a small fry company providing service. Sometimes these guys are real good. My Mother lives out on an Island. The local wireless internet company ONLY does business on it. The service is actually quite good for what it is. Well providing nothing crazy happens like a cell tower falls over like last month out there =).

On some of my heaviest missions I've seen 1.5 megs / second per person... though most are about 250-500kb per person.

So if a gig is a 1000 megs... 5000 megs at 1.5 mb/s would be about 55 minutes of gaming time. Obviously you'd be looking at 3 times that MINIMUM on most of my missions. Not fantastic- that's for sure but missions are getting smaller because of this AI crisis we're having.
