well that was your mistake, he seems more like a chewie dog.
He has many chewable toys. Four Kong toys, a small tire and 4 bones, plus a huge nylon bone. I got him a soft toy, as he has been taking my wife's socks and running around with them. I think he just likes making her run after him.

ahem......it was a play on words
mine is a mix with labrador i think, only say this because he has webbed paws and the ears, but everyone who sees him says he look like another type of dog, i should had named him chimera lol. Found him wandering the street as a puppy, put for adoption but no one answered so i kept him, best friends since.
i bought him a hard ball, they call it massive ball that is for bulldogs,rottweillers,pits....he broke it in half when he was 2, he is 9 now and less chewie, only play with the rope one still and sometimes that trick holder for treat that supposedly is to make dogs smarter, he never cared to take treats from that,he just look straight at me, and points where i store his treats.
He looks pretty laid back, or is he staring at you wondering where the food is?
He was sitting pretty for a cookie haha. Only way to make him sit for more than a few seconds (when you are around him). He is a very chill dog, but he is bursting with love, he can hardly contain it.
Thanks. I'm struggling with it. Did good today until I came home from work and he wasn't there to great me like he has every day for 12 years.

That is what always gets me too. Coming home, and they are not there to greet you. I always say, a couple days of a broken heart are worth the years of smiles and laughs they bring. But those couple of days are hard.

That's one of the worst heartbreaking aspects of losing a dog, the empty doorway on returning home.
As we tend to adopt older dogs, we have experienced this often, but have found the best catharsis for loss is adopting/fostering another unfortunate animal.

We have 4 more and I love them as well but Scrappy was our oldest and he was the one who clinged to me the most.

My first Boxer, Hagler, use to wait for me to bend down to untie my shoes/boots, he would stick his head between my arms, needing a hug. I still miss that sometimes. I was married 11 yrs when he had to be put down. My wife saw me cry for the first time.
We had to put down our very first pet on Labor Day, 2021. Ralphie (Jack Russell rescue...got him at 1 year old) was 14 and lived years past his originally expectant lifetime with having a bad liver (always on prescription food and treats). We still have Suzie (another Jack, 15) and Smokie (my late-MIL's cat...also rescues so estimated ages).
