Been working on this mesh on and off for a couple months. It is close to done. I am considering trying to rig it up in SABOW. THe .50cal version is RIGHT close to done. Just needs final textures and rigging. I THINK I can get it working more or less as a playable vehicle as all the really hard parts it simply does not need....interiors and complex fire controls.

So any interest in this out there?








The idea is NOT to really fight tanks of course.. Although the m38a1c can do that. Although near certainty of getting blown up. The idea is having a vehicle that can fight BUT is mainly aimed at controlling ai forces VIA the in game map where TANKS are not available for battle. Also testing waters for easier way of doing APC's WITHOUT the interiors synced up. That would allow faster and easier makings of things like halftracks and open topped armored vehicles. YA I am trying to single handly make some SABOW GTOS mutant child I guess. LOL

And if this does work out... DO NOT EXPECT any custom animations. I simply lack the knowledge (which I could get) AND I do not have access to max 2008 which is needed as the engine uses its rigging. I do have an OLD copy of max 4... BE funny as hell if that would work out. rofl

Started on its defuse textures. Gives a better idea than just normal maps. GOT to get that .50cal finished here soon. Its my old one you see in sabow unofficial patch and in GTOS DLC'c BUT its getting a FACE LIFT.

Also this is a somewhat lower poly one than I intend to stick in as a playable in sabow. IF it gets that far and works right. If it fails as a playable I guess will end up just an ai vehicle. I really hope that does not happen. Another playable flop and I kill small fuzzy things.

you doing great with this new models for sabow/apos..

but you are the only person who can/has created user made campaigns with the editor for sabow!
You should use the units who are in the game and make new campaigns ore alternative campaigns for sabow/apos because that is what mostly needed for longtime fans like me who played i.E. rakitnoye campaign 20 times wink

WIth APOS I have little desire..... every 2 or 3 months we get a new DLC. LOL And as far as APOS goes if I do a campaign it would be for north africa IF i ever get the kinks out of that project.

With SABOW needs new maps BADLY for the vet players... But that simply is not going to happen unless something crazy happens. Like it gets green lighted on Steam OR UIG stops being insane. So this I can do NOW. which is why I am. biggrin

Who knows. maybe this company commander in a jeep thing might actually be real good and fun. ANd somebody throws money at me. Well Graviteam too as it is their game engine. Ya not vary bloody likely. biggrin

Well who knows what can happen. Probably me just finally taking all my stuff and trying to get a 3d modeling job. I just get tripped up with trying to do stuff like this.

switching the sides of the iran/irak campaign in sabow would be a revolution..

or if graviteam updates sabow at all and implements your units into the campaign, even the "shield of the prophet" campaign in aops needs your m113 moddifications. M113ns with 50cals so senseless against the brdms with rockets and guns.. pitchafit

Its the same ai.. Just when the ifantry squad is directly attached to the apc...well it buttons up when ANY member of the squad takes fire. Mine does that too. Which is why in sabow I detached them. And for reasons unknown the default m113 can not rotate its commanders station. Sooner or later I will complete the update I started on my m113 and bring into APOS. Just there seemed to me little interest so I worked on this m38 instead. Also seeing if I do get this working doing it this way...then I might be able to slip in the m113a1 as playable. I treated it like a tank in SABOW. Which made sense. But I just could not work out all the weird sync issues. Which is why its ai only right now.

OK does anyone actually think bringing this into sabow is something that would be a good thing? SAbow is largely an orphaned child now.

Todays work so far.. Getting the base defuse complete. Nearly have the gauges done. Which I will have to DO AGAIN for the high poly bit for sabow.

Anyone remember the opening bit of the TV series A team? When the modified m38a1 with a role bar goes flying? Cause all of the sudden I am humming the theme song.





Man this is taking SO much longer than I ever thought. This better LOOK DAMNED SEXY sitting next to the M60 MBT.

Here we have a pic in sabows model viewer. HMMM OOPS I sized wrong so current makes the game spaz out. Well I can say it will at LEAST work as an AI vehicle for sabow/GTOS at this point. Well I knew that. NOW to go back are resize to hmmm right. LOL. 351 meters long LOL.

I am new to GTOS...can this model be used directly in APOS? Are there other custom models used in SABOW that can be used in GTOS?

It is the same engine. Right this second this is in SABOW. But a lot of my stuff is already in GTOS DLC's OR unofficial sabow patch. F5E, G3 rifle, m2hb MG are IN the former. My replacement m113s are in Isabow but only used the missions I did. My mod. I mean to get around to updating my m113 and sticking into GTOS but I got distracted by the m38a1 here.

M38a1 will likely make its way sooner or later into GTOS.

In short I have a habit of giving crap I make to Graviteam. Here are some silly OH CRAP issues of the WIP m38a1's.





The m106a1 is mine too. Just in Isabow mod. I really need to redo these to a better level.

Well got stuff to fix... I love the front tires. SIGH. And need figure out what went wrong on my base normal maps.

Man its blopper day for me. NOT a clue why the wheels are messed up but it sure is funny to watch this thing drive around. LOTS OF TWEEKING TO DO!. But chasing a an m38a1 around with a m60 MBT is silly in itself...

If I am brave ill start doing some tests on making this drivable tomorrow. Well I got to fix the front wheel issue and place the crew right. Still LOTS to do. biggrin





Fixing stuff. Lots of fixing stuff. Alas If I do pull this off it will likely not be an animated vehicle unless something happens. SO sad. OR I think up something..


Ok it does not float... LOL. Having issues with turning and the wheels still. added in the 50cal mg, and gunner for it. I wanted to test but instead the ai went out of control unable to really turn and did this instead. LOL

This looks awesome mate! Very ncie to see SABOW get some much deserved attention.

I have been playing a lot of APOS lately but everytime I fire it up I think of SABOW :p Last tiem I played it was when i convinced a friend to buy it, and I had a blast!

Really looking forward to any new content added to it, even if it's just an excuse to fire up the game and test it out.

Just FYI I have not worked on this in a few days. It is most likely that is I successfully get this in and is playable, the vehicle itself will be pretty static. IN that no animations for crew or weapons =(. I THINK the m38a1C (recoilless rifle version) will be a little less glaring on this. I will get back to it soon. #1 reason I am working on this is simply I want another go with sabow with a new toy. biggrin

Well running into the same stupid issues with making this USer useable. Doing this blind with no clue about what config does what and why. So as to playable chieftain or olifant.... Not really sure. I have thought about it some obviously. Like trying to make playable with no interior or just fake blacked out inside. BUT we run into again the simple fact I have NO clue what half the config stuff does. SO while I have the skill to make the model and texture parts......I simply am blind with the playable vehicle stuff. I was really hoping this little project might help out but UGH! RIght now totally frustrated. I wasted the afternoon in crash O rama.

in fact this moment how I got the m113 and the sho't gol even half working is truelly amazing. A lot with the m113 was figured out by Krabb.

As to why I have NO problem bringing in fully working ai vehicles with no problems just throws salt in the wound. It is just 1 more config file that makes it playable. With a few things in a cocpit mesh. UGH!@@!@!

I guess I complete the m38a1's as ai vehicles for NOW. Give one last go when they are complete. If graviteam EVER makes a sim again (OH PLEASE DO!) I hope they make this process a bit more easy. I know a lot of the values in the config are coming from some sort of utility as no human can really work with these odd ball values and have any idea what they do.

Because if I could get this stuff working........ I would seriously consider making a fully working tank like an m48 or m4 Sherman. WHY those you ask? Because there is SO much info wtf they look like on the insides. Same with t55 or even some marks of centurion. Right now I am considering jumping engines to work in. I am currently learning unreal slowly.........NOT exactly a good choice at all for tanks. And arma is still borked on tanks. But both are ok for light vehicles. So annoying! rant over.

Me too. biggrin I ran into issues again with playable. But I would still call it stalled and not dead yet. It is floating around the back of my mind.

WORST case is an ai vic. But right now I need to get back to the KV1 for the Red Orchestra vehicle mod team. Once I clear that I see where to go next.

In my dream world..

Graviteam becomes a BIG player and they need a crazy model/texture guy. HMMM ya. LOL I really do love what they do and how they do it.
