Downloading now. Chugging along but hopefully will get done later today. Awesome that I am off for the next couple of days.

Well, sorta. The access to the alpha server isn't up yet, that should be later today. But the game is downloaded and installed.

Yes it is. Just crashed my first plane.

Damned wife just told me we have to trim the dogs' nails. NOW, RIGHT NOW?!

Looks like some fun fiddling with the game this evening.

Taking off was a challenge. I crashed 10 times before I managed to take off. Then it wasn't even on the runway .. made about a six mile run cross country to get it up to speed. Once I got the sensitivity dialled down on the joystick I managed to fly in a straight line and gather some speed. I clipped a tree branch with my wing during a low level run and crashed... it was beautiful. Note to self, trees are not just artwork anymore.

The settings are available in air so just pause the game and go into settings and change that setup, very nice.

Country choice I did not see US flag so chose English thinking language. Perhaps should have left unselected.

You have to move the thing to the right to find the American flag.

This is the first flight simulator I have ever played where I simply can't take off. Plane CONSTANTLY veers straight to the right, I can't lock the tailwheel apparently ( Lshift + G simply does nothing ) and it just starts #%&*$# around in all directions. When I just mash the rudder and the entire stick to the left to counteract it, I can almost get a straight line but I need to keep it there WHILE I balance the plane between having the tale off the ground and not smashing the noise into the ground.

One prob is that the trim isn't working and it's trimmed back by default. Push the stick forward just a little and apply left rudder. Prop pitch to max, then add throttle smoothly. She flies fine.

Oh - and she NEEDS flaps.

Have you selected high prop revs? I had the same problem until I realised I was trying to take off with course pitch. Basically, the engine is putting most of its effort into rolling the plane, and next to none into moving it forward.

I'll look into it tomorrow, see what I'm doing wrong. Being extremely tired and dealing with a sinus infection usually isn't the best circumstances for beautiful take-offs :P

I'm rocking along at a blistering 125 KB/s! I'll be flying in mere weeks.

^This.. also .. you have to throttle up slowly..

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

It is the prop pitch, had the same issue and so selected the option to let the auto-pilot fly the plane, made all the difference smile. Oh, if you injure the pilot he'll make a nice radio call.

When I go to start a mission, it always tells me "Map is not awailable(sic) to your account"

Is there something I need to be doing?
