Hmm these commercials aren't produced using the game engine, right? If that's the case, I'm still weary of their progress because they seem to spend a lot of time making animations and renders, but we're not really seeing the game engine in action doing those things. All we seem to have is the hanger sim right now, and it's obviously nowhere near the level of the animations.

Couple of vids with in game engine. The AI one where the lasers are slow is an acknowledged bug.

One more - formation flying, only 720p though.

The commercials are produced with the in game engine. The only thing is the gameplay is not actual gameplay because they rigged all the animations for the commercials.

The hangar is unoptimized right now so they cant include all the effects that the movies get because there are people who can just barely run the hangar as it is let alone if they jacked it up to the level of the commercials (and you know they ran the commercial capture machine as the biggest beefiest machine money could buy.)

With that said though you can adjust the hangar with console commands to make it look and run a LOT better.

https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/44048/hangar-graphic-settings-tweaking

Most of their work right now is back end stuff. They already have a functional game they just need to build the backend to the point where it will run on a wider variety of computers. The full game is more than a year out. The dogfighting module is about a month out.

I installed to hanger module on the weekend to look at my ship. My daughters each claimed one of the "space fish", with my oldest taking the grey one and my youngest claiming the big gold one. Now they make me load the hangar just to see the fish. Hope I can install them on my ship or my girls will be upset.

Updated Ship Specs
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ship-specs

The Avenger and Cutlass are shaping up to be pretty good fighting ships.

The Hornet is probably still going to be the best balanced dogfighter but there are other cheaper options like the avenger and cutlass.

26 million dollars stretch goal reached.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13358-Letter-From-The-Chairman-26-Million

This unlock the new 28 million goal, which is a new starter ship, the Mustang.

Meanwhile the 27 million goal is:
Banu Merchantman Unlocked – Banu traders are renowed for their merchant prowess, traveling the spacelanes and trading with everyone from humans to the Vanduul! Their sturdy, dedicated trading ships are prized beyond all other transports, sometimes passing from generation to generation of Banu. At $23 million we dedicated additional resources to making Xi’An spacecraft a unique experience. At $27 million, we will expand that same thinking to the Banu! Starting with the merchant ship, the design team will expand Banu technology to offer players a completely different way of experiencing their universe.

Military Hornet Upgrade Sale Nov 11 (veterans day.)

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/store/314-hornet-f7a-upgrade

So it seems even though they said they would not sell the military Hornet they are going to do so lol.

To be honest, this upgrade ****s up all kinds of #%&*$#. They originally said upgrades could only be applied to the base ship but this upgrade seems to apply to ANY hornet and you get to keep both the original ship and the new ship?

Im going to have to read up on the forum to figure out what the **** this is about.

Some clarifications (I know these are addressed in the post going up to start the sale, but just to head things off here.)

- The upgrade pack gives you the /look/ of the F7A military Hornet, you retain the specifications of your current Hornet. It can be added to any of the current Hornet packages.
- You can opt-out of supporting the charities by purchasing with store credit (buy some skins and melt them if you don't have any credit.) Details about the charities will come in the post later today.
- The goal is to support people, not politics. We were approached by an American charity organization this time, we are completely open to working with international organizations in the future.

It's like a new skin for the civilian Hornet as it does not upgrade your hornet to the mil spec one.

It appears that it modifies the ship hull to look more like the military hull (it's not just a skin, the hull is actually reshaped). You don't get any extra hardpoints or weapons. If applied to a Superhornet, you still end up with a two seater.

Star Citizen hits 27 million! with new stretch goal:

"We’re going to devote the $29 million stretch goal to more resources for the single player game, Squadron 42. With Erin Roberts and the other veterans at Foundry 42 hard at work on the game, you can trust that it’s going to be great. Now we’d like to give them some extra resources to work with!

Enhanced Mission Design for Squadron 42 – The team at Foundry 42 has big plans for Squadron 42, and we’re going to provide extra funding to make it a true spiritual successor to Wing Commander! Squadron 42 can go above and beyond anything you’ve seen before. From opening with an epic battle instead of a training patrol to missions that seamlessly combine boarding and space combat, we aim to put you right into the action! Additional funding will let the team realize this, with enhanced mission design and more resources and animations to enhance fidelity."

Chris Roberts himself on SC being on consoles. Long story short: no current plans for next-gen consoles port, but never say never. Great read, as always.

At $200 million when they stop making a game and start building real spaceships.

Origin 890 JUMP – The rumors are true: Origin Jumpworks has a larger ship in the works! The Origin 890 JUMP is an interstellar super-yacht with exquisite styling and an array of high quality upgrade options. Travel the stars in style with multiple decks, high visibility windows and a small boat bay. Whether you’re outfitting it to explore new worlds or to take a pleasure cruise through Terra, the 890 JUMP is the epitome of luxury, class and refinement!

There is also a poll asking what direction should they go with any new ship they design. Seems most people want salvage or mining.

I find that a bit strange. Nobody (customers) knows what the game is going to be like or play like, so how can you vote on a direction in a game that there is no knowledge on.

To me it seems that RSI may not have a direction themselves.....
