This video will demonstrate how Harpoon players can create their own weapons systems according to their own desires without any need to contact a developer, database manager, or video creator to do it on their behalf due to the openness of the publicly available Harpoon databases and the database editor program included with the game.
So creating whatever your heart desires makes it a more realistic database? While I thoroughly enjoyed Fleet Command/NWP with their modded base, there was much turmoil when newer patches, nay, updates came out with the older scenarios and/or others modded scenarios with their own version of reality. It can get very frustrating when trying to troubleshoot CTDs. How do you mitigate mismatched databases when playing multiplayer?

Good point. The last thing we need is a sequel to Harpoon-like database chaos, the "solution" to which ends up being innumerable duplicate entries for the exact same platform/weapon system/sensor entry - nearly one for each and every scenario written.
That's not a solution - that's a clunky workaround that renders the resultant database useless for actually looking up the various entries, since it becomes extremely difficult to wade through, say, 15 slightly different entries for the Tu-22KD, all of which represent the exact same platform.
Locking down the database also keeps people from stealing the info (which must have taken years to aggregate), which I suppose must frustrate some people known for that sort of thing.

So, you're saying the complex interaction between the various assigned values for, say, radar signature and the game engine can be found in Jane's?
And the playtesting to validate all this can be found there as well, I suppose?
I think not.
Exactly. A database which starts from objective facts, but then weaves the data into a game system through a personal interpretation of them, and a lot of play-testing, is both *original* and the *original* results of hard efforts.
This doesn't prevent to some twats to scream "PLAGIARISM!", but of course no one is forced to listen to twats (and to become indistinguishable from them).

Under the HDSII-NACV Battleset I'm trying the Alpha Strike mission. I stink.
I can't even get planes near the peninsula without getting shot up. I've tried recon...I've tried having F-18's with HARMS...nothing works. I realize I am learning. But the map isn't displaying targets on the peninsula anymore. Yet my planes are being destroyed. I've had them turn on radars to attempt to find the targets...but I don't see anything. Aye...I am lost with this game right now.

A new video for [FPC] Fulda: Frontier of Freedom (MP) has been added the YouTubeHarpoon for Dummies channel. This video covers Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm and celebrates the latest 2.03 patch release.
After-Action Report for the Fulda: Frontier of Freedom scenario between Michael Orwick (a.k.a. OJsDad) and Herman Hum for v2.02a FlashPoint Campaigns: Red Storm.
This video after-action report was originally planned as a joint effort between opponents to show both sides of the same battle, but real life circumstances prevented Michael from recording his NATO orders. Apologies in advance for the extreme length of this video as the level of descriptive detail contained within is very high. Fulda is currently the largest scenario written for the game.

Hi Herman,
Thanks for the information - I think I am underestimating the power of this simulation - the graphics etc must be deluding me because I just didn't realize it modeled threats up to this detail. From what you are saying, it obviously does this to an incredible degree.
I didn't realize you prepared walk through videos of scenarios either, whilst the mission was successful, I would still be interested to see a walk through if its on offer?
Finally just another quick one - I'm at work at the moment, but for when I get home - is there a plotting tool I can use on the subs to draw nm ranges around them to remind me of the 150% threat areas etc - couldn't find a way to do it last time I checked?
