I don't know if anyone is interested, but there's been a lot of rumors about the 2015 Ford Mustang, and reportedly some CADD files for it leaked out. That, combined with what's actually been seen with the testers driving around, were combined to make the rendering shown on this page: http://www.caranddriver.com/features/2015-ford-mustang-leaked-360-view-and-full-details-newsI just bought a 2014, and I knew the 2015s were being redesigned, but I don't like to buy the first year of a new design, and didn't want to wait a few years before buying a new car, so I went ahead and bought one. I like the 2014 more than I thought I would, but the new design is growing on me. The new one is far less retro, which I like, and the more I look at it, the more I like it. Not wild about the tail, but the rest seems pretty good. It's supposed to finally get an IRS, but from the rumors, the engines and transmissions will be the same, at least for the first model year. Then the rumor is that the Coyote V8 that currently produces 420HP will be boosted to 500. Another reason not to buy one in the first model year, I guess. There are also rumors that the base models will be about the same price, but that the GTs and above may go up in price by 10%. There is also likely to be a GT 350 model that replaces the GT 500, and very possibly a Boss and Mach 1, all with various performance enhancements and focuses (the Boss, like now, will probably be normally aspirated, whereas the others will be super- or turbo-charged in some way). Ford is also putting in design features to make it more acceptable to European customers, such as making it slightly smaller and lighter, adding the IRS, and adding 4-cylinder engines as options, with one turbo version reportedly putting out around 310HP.

Yeah, I've heard some people call it the Ford Fusion Coupe, too, and I can see that. It still has a few Mustang styling cues to me, but I like the smoother shape. For me, the '60s stylings were nice, but I think things need to evolve.
And really, the '60s and early '70s models of any of the classic muscle cars were among the shortest lived designs. The current Camaro is based on one that was only produced from '67-'69. 1970 had a completely different look. Mustangs of the late '60s and early '70s had different looks, too, and of course since then have had a variety of different styles. Because of that, I think I'm a little more open to a car looking different than the original design, so long as I like it.

Looks awesome. I drove a 2013 GT for a week. An impressive car. Good build, 420hp(!), handled good, though I didn't feel comfortable throwing it around like my old Miata, maybe because I'm older/wiser, or just scared of messing it up. I wouldn't mind seeing a lighter version. It wasn't hefty like a Crown Vic, but it wasn't a sports-car either. I've been imagining a modern SVO Mustang for years, and it looks like we might see it soon. Maybe even something to compete with the Scion FR-S. I know Ford can do it. The Focus ST blew my mind in the handling department. It's just all about "The Market". Older people who can afford them and have been Mustang fans since forever (generally) like the heavier more powerful car, and young whelps (generally) prefer a smaller racier ride. And I know there are plenty of exceptions to that, but I'm speaking purely from a business point of view.

I like the look of it, I think the retro inspired look was great, but like the C7 Corvette it has to evolve and not stay stale especially to compete with the new stuff coming out from other automakers...
Definitely looking forward to seeing it when it is released.

I think it's common knowledge they borrowed from the Aston Martin for the Fusion's front end. That's a good thing IMO, it's a great looking car. Applying that here isn't so bad, I assume that and IRS is trying to appeal to overseas buyers more. I'd prefer something original, but if you're going to borrow design, Aston Martin is the way to go. Otherwise it looks about the same. I thought they were going to go radically different for the new ones, I'm a little disappointed they didn't go further with it.
If there's a new Mach 1 coming, that could be interesting, but I don't want a blower or turbo. I still think about buying an '03 Mach 1. Less power than the V6's have now, but I still love that package.
I'll take Outlaws instead, how about that? I miss my '66.

... but I don't want a blower or turbo... Ahh..but the torque anywhere in the power band...addictive. Negatives *Heat soak (depends on intercooler size, what you are doing - drag racing, road course) *Some increased complexity *Weight Pluses *TORQUE!!! *Easy to increase horsepower *TORQUE *Blower sound at full throttle *Did I mention TORQUE!!!?

I've had one, that's why I don't want another. LOL vacuum leaks SC fluid leaks replacing seals yet another belt to watch a PITA to take off to work on just about anything else (even had to remove to change a hose. LOL) But they sure do look and sound cool. I miss my 91 SC, it was a damn fun and also practical car.

I've had two cars with turbos on them, and was lucky enough to not have any issues with them. One was a Dodge Daytona from the '80s, and the other was a Plymouth Laser from the early '90s, that was basically a Mitsubishi Eclipse, with an intercooled turbo charged 4 cylinder engine. I bought both used, and both had over 160,000 miles on them before I got rid of them, and the turbo was never a problem for either. The Dodge started having a lot of issues, including a leaking power steering pump that would produce smoke from under the hood that was visible at stop lights, some sort of an electrical issue that caused the car to lose power and have all the lights dim randomly, and the interior basically fell apart. But the turbo just kept going The only problem I ever had with the Laser, aside from the pneumatic supports on the hatch losing their strength, was a central computer issue that caused the engine to rev up and down at idle. The replacement part was more than the car was worth, so I never had it fixed, and it actually drove fine. After I bought a replacement car, I gave the Plymouth to a friend who was going to school full time and didn't have a lot of disposable income, and he drove it for another few years. My current Mustang puts out 420HP and 390 lb-ft of torque - very noticeable upgrade from my 2004 Mustang GT.

I still hate the new rear end of the Mustangs... The wife's Mini Cooper Countryman S ALL4 has a turbo on it's 4-cyl. I hope it never gives us any problems! The thing really makes the car fun to drive though.

I traded my 2010 Mustang V6 in June for a new 2012 Mustang GT automatic. I had originally waited with much anticipation for the 2013 refresh, but when I saw one in real life I was underwhelmed by the tail and grill resculpt. By then it was too late to order a 2012, which I personally like the looks of much more, from the factory but fortunately I found one that had most of the features I had been window shopping for a couple years. I already have put over 11,000 miles on it. I was tempted to wait until the 2015 model hit the streets but I was also afraid I'd thoroughly hate the redesign. I like the retro cues of the current generation, especially in the cockpit. The renderings for the speculated 2015 don't look all that bad though; my only criticism is that the car looks like a Camaro was mated with a Ford Fusion and given Mustang badging as a formality. Anyhow, I'll take a wait-and-see stance and decide if I like the new car when it comes out. Maybe in two or three years I'll be in the market for a fresh Stang.
