Did we lose this in the latest TF patch? I used to like that effect and so far I haven't see it whilst flying TF Patch 4.0.
Excellent Job by the way. Congrats to the TF team for a great patch.

Yes, ice effect was removed in TF 3.0 patch. Was overmodeled, crossing a small cloud at 500 meters froze glasses, pitot tube, the carb's ... and sometimes the plane falls...

Only realistic if the glass freezes over when you fly through a cloud above freezing level. So, good job getting rid of it.

Would have been better to simply limit it to realistic conditions,
seeing as the work had been all done for it, and it would be realistic
in some situations.

I would like to see it make a return too. Yeah it was a bit overdone but it was a cool effect.

Given that TF have made it so that we can fly at altitudes where the outside temp is well below zero I second the return of frosted glass - under the correct conditions. Of course doing that may be far harder than we think!

A little history of this effect:-

It was present in the initial release of game- however many people felt it was overdone, as flying in any cloud for more than a few seconds caused a complete frosting over of cockpit glass and airframe/engine icing, leading to a massive loss of engine power and aerodynamic efficiency, basically the plane would almost fall out of the sky. The effect would disapear some time after exiting cloud.

Through the official patches the effect was modified slightly until by 1.05 it was actually possible to select wether cloud icing occured by adjusting 'thermal intensity' parameter in fmb.
However the default behaviour was for 'full' icing, which to my mind was over the top for normal weather conditions in UK during summer (ie Battle of Britain- with the effect it was impossible to climb through more tha ~200ft of cloud layer

With the release of the final official patch (1.11) the ability to change icing levels dissapeared (one of many things the final patch 'broke'), so any flying through clouds meant the plane fell out of the sky again.
As far as I'm aware , the fact that the graphical effect and the engine/aerodynamic effect are not able to be separated and it was not possible to reinstate the ability to select the icing level in fmb, TF opted to remove the effect.
Personally I can well understand why- there was almost no reason for a mission builder to use clouds if planes just fall out of the sky on entering them
