Yeah checking temps right after a restart will let them cool down drastically in the short time to reboot. The best way to do it would be to run a stress-test on your GPU/CPU with something like CoreTemp and GPU-Z running simultaneously so you can monitor how high they get before crash
If temps are still fine and no crash, maybe check your RAM with Memtest 86+

Did you try testing your ram? Try downloading memtest86+ to a usb stick and booting off of it and see if anything comes up. Also, did you try a driversweeper utility? Removing all remnants of previous graphics drivers before installing the newest version? Also, temps can really cool down when load is removed from the cpu. This app supports logging: http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/
CPU: 3.8 ghz 3930K, Nvidia 980 TI, 3D-vision, 16gb DDR3-2133 Memory, 120GB SSD, 240gb SSD, 2x1TB SATA HD, 27" ASUS 2ms LCD. Corsair Mechanical KB, Razer Death Adder,Win 10 64 bit. also: Alienware M11x R2

If temps are still fine and no crash, maybe check your RAM with Memtest 86+ I would Follow NoUseForAName advice this is basically the best way to check For your CPU stress test you can run Intel Burn Test v2.53 http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/intelburntest.htmlfor GPU you can run FurMark. http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/Also when your run the GPU Burn In test make sure you have a Custom Fan Profile with MSI Afterburner or eVGA Precision.. And EVERY PC or Console Colloects dust, depending on environtmet some are mostly not much dust but if you smoke, have pets it can get rather filthy in there.. Unless you live in a Dust free Environment you are collecting dust..

Tonight I decided to just open the PC and have a look around in there. I saw almost zero dust. The PC sits up high and behind a 48" TV which serves as my monitor. Years ago when it sat on the floor, it would clog pretty bad with cat hair and dust, etc. Well, I saw nothing like that in the CPU or video card. I blew out the CPU cooling vanes anyway just in case, didn't really see anything come out. I plugged it in just to see if all the fans were running and they were.
So I hooked everything back up behind the TV and tried to use memtest but I'm ashamed to say that I couldn't get it to boot off the USB.
I decided to run Far Cry 3 in windowed mode with a temperature monitor. I played for an hour (partly in windowed, partly in full-screen) without a lockup (it took about 20 minutes to lock up before). The temperature was rock solid on the CPU and video card but then it never locked up, either.
So I guess I will keep going and if it continues to be a problem I can look at memory and drivercleaner. I've been wanting to go up to 8GB anyway, but for 200 bucks for DDR2, I may go whole hog and upgrade my motherboard and CPU - an idea that has been floating around the back of my mind anyway.
