I read a lot of books, about 5 or 6 a month. One of my favorites, is the book Fighter Pilot: The Memoirs of Legendary Ace Robin Olds. The guy was a legend. I highly recommend this book. One of the best aviation historical accounts out there.

I was lucky enough to get the free kindle version.

It's good reading. The author gives an overview of the US build up and talks about the men at the top and their backgrounds. The style is easy to read and covers things that happened so far up the chain of command that they seem remote from the actual business of aerial warfare.

The author also has anecdotes from the guys at the sharp end so it's personal too.
