Bring a Cliff of Dover owner since day one, but only a recent player. Due to the lack of playablity at release, and the hard work of the few who are starting to pull the potential out of this tittle with mods and mission packs, after the developers drop it....
Was wondering which of the 2 new WWII flight sims people are looking forward too, and what are your pro's and con's of each... Please don't turn this into a BASH section of the 2 devolopment teams. Just what you like and dislike, about what features of each tittle, that is known as of right now.....
IL-2 BOS.... My concerns is if the RoF engine can handle a large number of planes per mission.. RoF is not very good at this....(IMO)
DCS WWII Europe 1944... Really don't have any experiance with DCS other then Black Shark 1
I myself will most likely buy both. I hope that each have a good off-line campagin system, for people like myself that don't fly online.....

If you don't like me, You can do one, of two things, deal with it, or get the heck out.

m looking forward to both, i think they will both offer something different for flight simmers, different theatres for one, though i want somebody, anybody, to make a flight sim that covers the Med/north Africa.
I WANT THE MED

I will fly, and support all three. I believe COD will have the overall more detailed game engine, which should allow for a lot of user made content. I believe BOS will also overcome ROF's shortcomings in regards to the amount of aircraft/objects to be one of the most popular flight sims. I haven't seen enough of DCSWW2 to have a strong opinion one way or another, but the aircraft in the sim are a very popular plane set. Most people will enjoy all three.
Furbs, might see a Malta theater at some point with the COD game engine. I believe we will see another Russian Front map in the BOS sequel, if the sim still has Russian Government funding. It will be interesting to see if community modding will gain some headway with 777Studios. DCSWW2 will continue with ETO theater maps, and aircraft, with community mod support, especially with the EDGE graphic engine. Its all good.

A personal view is that for the foreseeable future, the continued expansion and improvement of the Battle of Britain period should remain highest on the list of CloD development criteria.
For me, 1940 was the most fascinating and diverse period of the entire WWII air warfare scenario and I would prefer the blitzkrieg campaigns in Norway and the Battle of France, with the introduction of the Armee de l'Air, before getting my knees brown in the absorbing support of Pedestal, Africa, Malta and the neglected Greece, Crete, Aegean backwater.

What's funny is a couple years ago I would check the CoD forums every friday, praying for an update or a couple screens. When we didn't get any it was a real letdown to the day.
Now we have like 3-4 different flight sim updates to look forward to every friday, it's amazing! I don't understand how some people can be so doom and gloom.

I agree kestrel, we seem to be heading for a real flight sim renaissance.
Cheers!

...we seem to be heading for a real flight sim renaissance. Let this be a lesson to us all. The end of the genre was widely predicted in the late '90s, but then came the new kid on the block, Oleg Maddox. The end of the genre was predicted again periodically, usually citing the hazards of a niche market along with increased demands for graphics and realism with ever increasing man-years of development. So here we are today with WIP on at least three sims. To paraphrase Mark Twain, news of the end of the genre has been greatly exaggerated.
