Honestly, I'd be backing if all they made was a new map and a dynamic 1944 WWII campaign ... and no new planes, just the P51. The game is what is missing, the rest is already there.

I have pledged some money already as the scenario of Normandy is too good to miss. However, as I've already said previously a portion of Southern England should be included so that we don't have all air-starts/ mission ends over water. I think the extra 125k for this is totally unrealistic in my opinion, it should be part of the base module overwise this will be no better than War Thunder.
A dynamic campaign would be nice but to be honest this should be a long term goal as a pay module and should be as indepth and realistic as humanely possible. The aim here would be to raise the bar on what Rowan acheived with Bob 2 and ofc Falcon 4, not to equal but to better.

At this point, your only real play is to promote up the M.E. 262. You still have time to get $150,000.

Going forward, you need to do the following:

1) Decouple. You need to stop implying that DCS WWII is somehow separate from DCS World. You are producing modules that plug into DCS World. Normandy 44 is a map module, M.E. 109K is an aircraft module, Mk IX Spitfire is an aircraft module, and P-47 is an aircraft module. They plug-in just like Ka-50, A-10, UH-1, and Mi-8. Focus the aircraft group on the Spitfire and get it out.

2) Map out a Game Plan. How are you going to make money? Map extension is one way, and Aircraft modules are another. Expanding around Normandy 44 there is Southern England (including East Anglia north of London were most of the bases were) and the Road to Berlin. For aircraft you should go Typhoon then B-17.

3) Suppress the Passion. The main issue with the Kickstarter is that your passion is suppressing your brain. You want this to happen so bad that you are making bad decisions, forcing stuff, and cutting corners. Would you have asked a individual investor to invest $100,000 using the presentation you used on Kickstarter? If you cannot do this, become creative director and get someone who can to do the project management/business side.

Hey guys,

Quick update. Just to get some of you a bit more excited.

We finally have a decision on the EDGE SDK.

It's a YES!

I'm doing a quick video about it and recording some footage from inside EDGE. Should be a quick video to make, look for it later tonight.

Hopefully we can organize a community effort to create more landscapes for DCS WWII. This can mean a community-created Southern England, or Ardennes, or Market Garden, or Ruhr, there are tons of options and I really look forward to a discussion on this topic!

A guarantee that it will be released during a time in my life when I'm still interested in playing video games.

That's not the topic of discussion.

That out of the way, Ilya, the reason I've not backed is because, like others here, your presentation has been way too haphazard and all over the place. I've nothing against you personally - after all, you put with my constant e-mails way back in the day with the He 162 cockpit for IL2, and I'll always be grateful for that. smile It's just that the plan you've presented so far for this DCS title hasn't been very clear.

Wow. This has to be the most chaotic kickstarter I have followed. I'm starting to understand why CloD was such a mess. Now starting to have serious doubts this will ever see the light of day.

My reasoning is pretty straightforward. Funds are tight for me at the moment since I'm a student and need to be selective with my cash. As such I don't own every plane or mod RoF has on offer, but even with those constraints I sorted out funds to pre-order BoS after hands on time with it. I would have backed your KS too for the same amount if it made the right impression on me, but it hasn't done so for one main reason.

It's because I haven't seen anything tangible aircraft wise you plan on making that inspires me to back the project. The best video so far was with Yo-Yo and yourself because knowing he is working with you (and heavily involved in the MkIX) is reassuring as the P-51 is excellent, but at some point it really would have been nice to see some development shots/video of aircraft RRG Studios has created in action as this is a KS after all. A lot of video game projects on KS at least show some gameplay of what they have developed so far, but from your KS it appears you probably don't have anything to show on this aspect yet, which is a shame because I'm not interested in seeing footage of the already in-development P-51 and Dora.

Of course I'm speculating here, but I think you decided to open this KS out much too early due to worrying about the competition taking away prospective backers, and in that worry you forgot that as simmers we will play more than one sim if we feel the quality is there(I have six on my PC right now). If only you had waited until there was something more concrete to put on display to give your KS real momentum from its opening I would have backed from Day 1. The only project I have backed on KS was Star Citizen and from that presentation video alone I was sold because I had a real sense of what direction the game and its universe would take.

I'll wait and see until the KS closes to make up my mind fully though, but if I don't back the project be assured you will still have my money when it's released because I love the procedural side of the DCS series. Best wishes for the last few days.

Well I lied, $50 for all the aircraft and alpha access got me. I know I would of bought all the aircraft/game anyway so this way is cheaper.

*sigh*

I'm back in at $50 which is way lower than what I was originally prepared to pledge. Even so, I have very grave reservations.

There's something very dear about Luthier's passion. This is a hero's journey. He's been right there at the top, at young age, has taken a deep fall, is trying to get on his feet again. The clumsy campaign is evidence of this struggle. It's easy to see what could have been done better. Obvious to everyone who watched. Not so easy to see the inner fight. The doubts. The fear.

This kickstarter is his katharsis. From great pain great strength can be born.

Here's to the crazy ones...

So people are pledging money to help Luthier create an addon for DCS utilising the already in place P-51 and 190.
So in essence a map and a couple of extra aircraft, being described as "free", despite the addon being a chargeable item.

After Cliffs of Dover, there is nothing that would persuade me to fund this project.

Contribute cash to fund the creation of an addon for DCS then pay for that addon when it's released....I'll pass thanks
