I was just wondering why there seems to be very little posts on the BS sub-forum. Is there no love for the Shark here? I was thinking of finally squashing my "Shark problem" by learning how to fly and fight in this aircraft but I'd rather be on SimHQ than on the ED forums... however, seems like it's a lonely place, that BS sub-forum.

Not asking about "support," else I'd go to the ED forums.
I was just expecting more of a Black Shark pilot crowd on here --- just because ED has moved on doesn't mean everyone moves with it. Some people like the A-10C and are not bothered by all other offerings, others "must collect 'em all!"

Being a Russian fan in DCS, my main craft is black shark.
Looking forward to mig 21, but if and when it comes, the f-18 may be the first western aircraft I will be interested in.
If its built like a tank, ugly and has buttons in the strangest places, its most likely Russian and most likely my favourite

I'm finding more and more that I'm enjoying the challenge of flying the various helicopters. I don't have much time to fly these days with school and work, but when I do, I'm slowly working on increasing my proficiency in the Shark, Huey, and now Mi-8. The A-10 is fun, but I like being eyeball to eyeball with the turf when I'm moving mud, or coming in much faster (I'm really, really looking forward to the F/A-18C).

I too fly the Shark the most. Since it is a pretty stable module with not that many issues, people probably don't post as much.

I think the Black Shark remains my favorite DCS module so far. Yeah, the A-10C is great..but the feeling of accomplishment when completing a mission flying the Ka-50 is much greater than the easy to fly A-10C. 80% of the battle with the Ka-50 is just navigating to and from the target area without running into cumulus granitus..
If they ever come out with an Apache I'm pretty sure that would become my newest favorite..

Some people like the A-10C and are not bothered by all other offerings, others "must collect 'em all!" I meant support to mean all of the interest/discussion stuff in addition to ED maintaining it. Lets face it the longer an aircraft is released the less missions, videos, guides, etc are made for it. Unless a new aircraft is released that is either historically tied to the existing aircraft or is kind of similar in design or function, the existing aircraft will slowly decline in popularity. Don't get me wrong I love the shark, and from others response in the thread quite a lot of people still love it, but some of us have had it for 4-5 years now and there isn't much to discuss about it aside from helping new players who have recently discovered it.

No problems with the Shark per se, it just doesn't seem to want to fly how I want it to fly. In fixed-wing sims, the problem is in the tactics and weapons employment considering the threat environment. In the Shark, well.... Nice to see there's a healthy group of BS2 flyers here. I'll be slowly starting to learn the Shark properly so I'll be posting n00b questions soon. A bit busy in RL, but it seems that I can't do without a sim flight every now and again, so decided to work on BS2. Nick, check email!

Learn to fly the Huey, then come back to the Shark and it will feel like a Cadillac Fleetwood on cruise control . My experience with the Ka50 totally changed after I figured out the Huey. The same Shark that used to give me headaches became this friendly Sea World dolphin that I can land on the back of a flat bed truck.

The trick with the 50 is learning to fly with the AP and not against the AP.

The same Shark that used to give me headaches became this friendly Sea World dolphin that I can land on the back of a flat bed truck. I believe a lot of that ties into the next point: The trick with the 50 is learning to fly with the AP and not against the AP. After you fly the UH-1H Huey, devoid of those autopilot/stabilization features and have to do everything manually with your own skills as a pilot, you suddenly gain a new appreciation for the Ka-50's capabilities. It's remarkably stable with less effort needed by the pilot because of the stabilization and AP modes. However, a lot of people don't quite know how the Ka-50's autopilot and stability systems work in the first place. This is part of the reason that the cyclic trim and the oft-overlooked collective brake/altitude assign lever are so important: they tell the AP what you're trying to do with the Shark, and as such it'll try to work with you rather than against you.

Yep, that does about sums it nicely. Take hovering for instance, slow down, hit the auto hover, trim, and the Ka50 pretty much stays still without any major input. Want to land from a hover, hit the Descent auto pilot for a gentle touchdown. The Huey on the other hand is an axe murderer trying to kill you the first instance you relax and your attention deviates for a few seconds.
