Hi HomeFries. Just realized that Super EF2000 V2 for windows 95 is not supported. Any way of making EF2000 Reloaded work with this version of EF2000? Thanks

pescador,

Since EF2000 Reloaded is pretty much a DOSBox build and a front-end to help automate the DOSBox parameters, there's no real reason to make it compatible with Super EF2000. You can still install Super Revive independently and use it with Super EF2000, though.

If you have Version 2.0, then you should have the TACTCOM and 3DFX versions as well (they're on the same CD).

As previously discussed, I am going to use the CH manager software to combine all of my CH Products into one device for purposes of EF2000. I am given some choices as to how many axes and buttons I able to create. Does Ef2000 have any such limits. My choices are Axes: 8, 6 or 4. Max Buttons: 32, 16 or 4. Please advise.
thanks

I recommend 4 buttons because that's all DOS recognizes, and any "directx" buttons after that will wrap. The other thing you can do is just set everything to keyboard (button 1 to spacebar, 2 to backspace, 3 to enter and 4 to x). You actually get faster cannon fire when using the keyboard instead of the joystick.

It took me a little while to install the 3dfx version of EF2000 on a 64 bit system, but after I dug up an old 32 bit laptop, installed the 3dfx version there, and then copied over the resulting game folder onto my 64 bit system, I was able to get EF2000 reloaded up and running in a jiffy. It works great!

Thanks, HomeFries. I don't know how much I'll actually play it, but I like being able to--I like it a lot. And I've already had a great deal of fun playing TAW 2.0, so thanks for that, too.

Got it running with everything mapped to my G940. Used ppjoy 64bit version (uses unsigned driver so windows testmode is required) to create a virtual joystick that assigns the axis properly as dosbox only sees the first device. If anyone wants instructions/profile then PM me.

I'd forgotten just how good this game is (not was). Glad its back!

Now who is up for a mp campaign UK evenings?

it doesnt seem to work for me, i start it, dosbox opens up, then closes when it gets to the "found 233,312k of memory"

i dont know if im missing a step or something, i point it to my tactcom install, (ef2000.bat) and try to run it, but it just closes everytime

Falster I had the same problem when trying to run froma tactcom install. I think Homefries and friends have designed the front end and the dosbox (quite logically) basing on the EF2000 v2.0, which is also improved cmapred to the tactocm install. If you can you should use that version, remembering it should be isntalled on a 32 bit system and then copied over to your 64 bit system.
If you don't have the EF2000 v.2.0 which is quite difficult to buy, use your immagination ;-)

hmm let's cut the chase actually; it is impossible to find EF2000 v2.0. I would happily give my money to a legal republishing.
But isn't it actually abandonware?
Am I allowed to post the link to the EF2000 v.2.0 files?

I don't think it's a good idea to post any links on this forum even if it may be considered abandonware, but knowing that there is v2.0 available on the web somewhere will keep those in need searching wink

Probably not, although I have a strong opinion about this...

Anyone familiar with my posts has seen pics of some of my movies, music, software, etc. I try to do the right thing and own legitimate copies of everything I'm interested in. But it's not always so black-and-white to me, and I take circumstances into consideration.

Years ago SimHQ poster Dogsbody hooked me up with BRAND NEW copies of the EF2000 and F-22 Strategy Guides from the UK, as well as an unopened shrink-wrapped box of EF2000 V2.0. The Strategy Guides are a rare find in ANY condition, getting brand new ones was unbelievable!

So I had the spines removed, bought a scanner and made PDFs...
http://198.65.10.229/DID/Temp/DID_BKS.JPG

I went through the time and expense because I really wanted these books digitally archived (only the TAW Manual was shipped as PDF with a budget CD), while having them printed to a 3-ring binder to use around my two Jack Russells. And of course I shared them, along with the F-117 Manual and the F-22 ADF Manual and accompanying book.

Technically I'm sure I was breaking copyright law, assuming no one was going to give grief about long abandoned games (and they haven't). IMO, it was the right thing to do as these original books, although brand new when I scanned them, were already showing signs of aging (i.e. pages yellowing and sticking). They needed to be preserved and since the originals are quite rare, made available.

I feel the same way about the games they support. EF2000 is 16 to 18 years old (depending how you look at it) and is nowhere being supported nor sold as new. I personally have no problem sharing the game and anything related to it, especially if it promotes continued interest and possible improvements. That's how I feel about it, although I wouldn't post any direct links on this forum.

As a sidenote, the EF2000 Manual I bought from pescador a long time ago (shown on page 2 of this thread) is now falling apart! smile Now I've been doing some serious reading on the game recently, but the Manual is just getting too old for frequent handling. Time to finally retire it and print the PDF.

The rusty wire that holds the cork that keeps the anger in
Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done
Two suns in the sunset, hmph
Could be the human race is run
