Me and Tempus ended up flying a single mission till nearly 1am! Lovely aircraft, fairly easy to handle as well.

Have you tried the Huey too? If so, which do you like better?

Yes, got the Huey as well. Both are great. Not sure which I prefer. Even though I love the real world Huey I think I may lean more towards the MI8 in DCS.

Huey Pros
History
Sound of the Rotors
Side Gunners
More manoeuvrable
More fun to fly around - No Stability controls
English Cockpit
Can aim the Miniguns
More complete atm

Huey Cons
Rather Combat ineffective (maybe I'm just poor)
Not as many load outs

MI8 Pros
Stability Controls
Very large Cockpit
Many more weapon configurations
Wheels - Easier take off and landing
120 rocket barrages!

MI8 Cons
Russian Pit - English mod
Tail haunts me

If you are looking to only get the one I would go with the MI8 as I feel it is more diverse. However there is no campaign yet, unlike the Huey. A small album with some Huey Shots http://imgur.com/a/cbfEF#3

that was damn good fun ... and I think I would agree with your final call ...

the huey if fun to fly but the Mi8 seems to have the edge, just due to versatility it can carry more offensive load and is slightly easier to fly (and put weapons on target) due to the stability dampers

looking forward to seeing the Mi8 with all features implemented (especially the fan)

Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.

The only thing more accurate than incoming fire, is incoming friendly fire

That camera angle is great for screenshots of rocket runs. Could make for some nice video footage as well.

Cool, thanks for the info Fudge93. I'm not sure I'll get either. Maybe.. I haven't played a flight sim in a long time, except for a few quick runs in BMS 4. I'm kinda tempted though. smile

the new more fast response version of the LAV 25

due to small landing accident I now have the new compact Mi8 for landing in tight spaces
