really... is this game worth 80 bucks? Not a trend I like but Slitherine has always been a little greedy, with success... in high prices.

That's borderline extortionate.

Yeah they claim the product is for a niche market but I would argue that with that pricing you force it to be a niche market that only a hardcore war simmer would buy. Too bad really as I would have bought it day one for 49.00 and I'm sure many other not so hardcore gamers would have also but are now spending their cash somewhere else.

But since they were so silent about pricing and this is Matrix games I had a feeling it would be high. Sadly they didn't disappoint me on that.

Looking around their forums it doesn't look like it is flying off the shelves , so to speak, I have only found two people that claim to have downloaded it now.

If it was at around 50 USD, I would have jumped on it. At this price I will hold until I see reviews on it.

Gamers be strong, refuse 80 bucks for Command by @MatrixGamesLtd it's greed, no buy, force them to drop to reasonable price. Be STRONG!

I definitely would have bought it at $50, but I would really have to see some stellar reviews before paying $80. I kinda knew exactly what I would be getting when Steel Beasts Pro PE came out, but it was still hard to plunk down that kind of cash for a computer game/simulation. I'm passing on this for now and waiting for it to go on sale.

Wow! As a beta tester, I never expected that price point either and I got a $20.00 coupon to boot. It's really not a bad simulation but now that it's officially released, I'll let the forums sway your opinions either way. They really did put a lot of effort and energy into this game and surely will surpass Harpoon, in my opinion.

I was relly looking forward to this one but it's a no go now. No way i'am paying over 70 dollars (including my discount as a beta tester). And it's only a single player title at this moment. No info if multiplayer will be added later. Bummer.

I'm just wondering, but would this been something that a fan of "Fleet Command" who has been looking for a modern version of it should even consider?

How dare they force me to pay this much....they know my weakness for this sorta thing...no I refuse to pay...they can't make me.

ok I bought it.....so excited

I never played harpoon or any serious game before, fleet commander maybe but jumped right into this one, lucky I did not waste my money on Total War Rome 2 phew that was close otherwise i would not be able to afford this one.

but I expect to get hundreds of hours of game play from this title.

I was interested, but just wasn't sure how much I'd like the game. I can't justify the $80 for this one based on that. If I had the same excitement for it that Tank000 does, I'd do it. But I don't.

Will wait and see if it goes on sale at some point.

Just my feedback and opinion.

I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

Hi guys,

We are very happy both with the sales and even more important the reception & feedback we are getting. The vibe out there is nothing short of amazing.

We are perfectly fine with folks waiting to read reviews, hear opinions from their friends etc. before they buy, as we are now more certain than ever that they will like it ((the reviewers/previewers already love it). This is not a mainstream title with a limited shelf/spotlight life so we're not in a race to get lots of sales fast "or else". We're gonna be around literally for years.

We'd like to thank everyone who has liked our game regardless of whether they bought it (/are going to buy it) or not. The air/nav genre has been waiting for a title like this for more than a decade and the time has come. Truly a historic day!

Nice try... every board I read, and that's many of them 95% are refusing to buy at that price, so your not selling as many as your pretending too... you know that price is a rip off, but your trying to spin it your own way... wake up, smell the coffee, and release it at a reasonable price... and don't send your 50 fan boys over to flood the forum with your BS.

Your company disgust me, and it, along with all the IAP of many games, is what's ruining gaming these days... GREED.

Thank you for your kind reply.

I am not going to comment on the price, but I will say that Command is a once-in-a-decade (generation?) game and this is not a view expressed just by "fanboys" (unless you posit that e.g. USNI accepts article submissions by kiddies). The quality of the game speaks for itself, and the reception we have received (even by people who took the plunge with great reluctance because of the sticker shock) has been incredible. You don't have to take my word, just talk with those who have bought it.

If you want to discuss the merits of pricing you are free to contact the Matrix people and exchange your views on their pricing policy. I am here to talk about the game and its merits. I am not a rich EA/Valve/etc. exec, I am a software developer just like all the others who make the games you like best.

If the sole purpose of this thread is to complain about the price and accuse us of gouging, then I have no purpose being here and shall take my leave. If you honestly want to talk about the _game_, let's talk.

Thanks!

ok, about the game... a demo, a refund if it crashes every other mission... come on, you want to sell at that price, we have a right to know what were getting. a few people who bought it saying how great it is, is NOT enough, it may be great for all I know... but nearly 100 bucks for a game in these troubling times, not without insurances.
