So..
IT downloaded UH1 and BS2

But not asking for activation on those, but asking for Activation on P-51?

Skate have you ever done a fps comparison to the Steam version running vs the non steam version?

All right, here's the procedure I've figured out to use Steam-purchased keys on a non-Steam DCS World install, with a bit of help from the ED Forums:

-Highlight the DCS World page in your Steam library, then click the "CD Key" link on the side.
-Copy the module keys you find in there someplace else.
-Navigate to your DCS World directory, open the "bin" subfolder, Shift-right-click and open a command window there.
-Enter the command "DCS_updater.exe install <module>" in the command window, where <module> is one of the following:

A-10A
A-10C
CA
KA-50
P-51D
SU-25
UH-1H

Now you can quickly run a mission, get the usual module activation prompts asking for your keys, put those in, and you should be good to go-no Steam installation needed!

P.S.: I now have the Huey and the Mustang. The A-10A and Su-25 were slightly tempting, but I'd still rather go for the complete FC3 package later.

for FC3, you will need LockOn (from Ubisoft) ... so you will never see the full FC3 package on Steam! Give ED some time and you will see each single aircraft from the FC3 package as DLC on the Steam network!

I thought about your reply 2Lt_Joch and you where right. I bought the DCS UH-1H Huey with only a few minutes to spare. The %80 off sale for the Huey lasted about 12 hours. The sale price was 9.99 USD. I don't think it will be that low again for years to come.

Before deciding to buy the Huey, I experimented with the missions from all the modules. It turns out that most if not all the missions in all the modules that involve a plane are compatible with all the other missions that also involve a plane. And all the missions that involve a helicopter are compatible with the other modules that involve a helicopter.

That means that almost all the Huey missions can be flown with the KA-50 and vice versa. For example, in the A-10C missions, you can replace the A-10C and instead use the A-10A. You make the switch inside the mission editor. The entire mission stays the same, including the waypoints. The only difference made to the mission is the plane or helicopter you choose. Sometimes you are limited to which plane or helicopter you can substitute depending on which country you select in the mission editor.

The DCS UH-1H Huey is still kind of lame but the combination of the super low sale price and the lack of another helicopter that I would buy cemented my decision. I will not buy the Mi-8MTV2 no matter how low the price goes. The Huey gameplay should continue to improve. My assessment is made on the current pre-sale Beta version. At the very least, more Huey missions will give the KA-50 a little more life.

I sould also mentioned that I still have not flown the DCS UH-1H Huey. My opinion is based on videos I saw on YouTube. The quality of the flight model will be however the programmers choose it be. Which will be what looks and feels most realistic and what is most economic in terms of modeling versus man work hours. As for DCS, too often, making it more difficult to fly than easy to fly seems to be there prefference. To me gameplay strategy is more important than some over exaggerate scripted movement.

Bought the A-10A and Su-25.. I don't own FC3 (only beta tested it and previewed it) so I'll be happy to accumulate the modules. Plus, I don't like seeing those dollar signs over my icons.. <g>

Been hopping between the A-10, KA50 and Huey, just level flight so far. Surprisingly, the Huey seems the most stable and easiest to fly. Love the sound. I think I will spend a lot of time in the Huey.

I already had DCS world, so Steam just downloaded the 3 modules (2.5 Gigs). Oddly, I was asked for the license keys for the Ka50 and Huey, but not the A-10?

Does FC3 give you more than just buying the two modules (A-10a and SU-25) by themselves? What else would I be missing, if anything?

Thanks!

I have everything but the Mi-8 (for now)

I Bought P-51D and Flaming Cliffs 3 From ED
I bought A-10C and Huey from Steam
I bought KA-50 and CA from GameFly.

So I think I got License Keys from All Sources involved :p

It seems that 70% off the Huey was a mistake, it's at 10% now. Glad I got it for $9 while I could biggrin

Same, though the only thing I am missing is CA and Mustang. Interested in the MI-8, though that is at full price.

I wish MIG-21 was out. I've been waiting for that for so long...

Already picked up A-10C.

What are the general thoughts on the current state of CA?

$10 is pretty cheap, but what do you guys think of it in general?

Cheers!
