Jason,
First, thanks for being so hands-on with these forums and discussions regarding your projects. It's always best to get answers directly from the source.
I already have RoF content pre-Steam, but I have some questions regarding the bonus copy of IL-2 1942 included with the Steam RoF:
1) Is this offer only good until the sale ends?
2) Is the bonus game tradable in Steam?
3) Does this mean IL-2 1942 will appear for purchase in the Steam store again soon?

It seems all my other questions regarding existing RoF accounts and Steam have been answered, but not much has been said about this surprise bonus game offer.

Hmmmm...

1. The IL-2 offer should expire after the sale ends on the 12th I believe.

2. Have no idea. 1C department.

3. I think they said it would be sometime in the near future, but I don't know when.

ROF seems to have been received quite well on Steam. The message board is buzzing with mostly positive threads.

Hopefully this bodes well for continued ROF development alongside BOS.

Yes, more players = more revenue = more...more.

There were lots of new players in the servers over the weekend. The biggest problem though was the DLC packs. Without the ability to buy "one" usable plane to make the missions playable people kept leaving in frustration.

It would be nice if some of the big servers (wargrounds, syndicate) reworked their missions so that they all offered at least one of the steam base planes (Dva and N17). That wont happen though.

So I would advice 777 to rename the "furious wings" pack to "This is the one you will need to fly 99% of the online maps - pack" and the "birth of warbirds" pack to "Buy this one if you dont want to wait for an hour on the 4 limited early war planes which you will probably never get to fly since everyone is waiting on them - pack"

An even better idea would be to include those two very early war planes in the base game and then every map maker would be able to include those early planes without the fear of breaking the game balance (like they do for the n17 and dva on early war maps.)

Yeah, the server operators need to be cognizant of the most commonly owned planes and accommodate those wherever possible.
