Yo,

Not sure where to post this, so here will have to do - I apologise if news has already been posted, but I couldn't find it. Oleg et al have a new project in the works (I know they #%&*$# it hard with CoD, but they did IL2, and I have sunk more time into it than any other game ever - and I stand by my assertion that no other game has ever re-created the sensations of flight better).

Anyway, it has a kick starter campaign, which is already doing very well, but thought I'd pass the link on to people who would probably be very interested! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/508681281/dcs-wwii-europe-1944

Cheers,

If I were rich, I'd pay the $10,000 dollars to "visit the team".

I have written many emails to Oleg since the IL-2 demo came out to complain about
the "chase" view. The damn camera follows the plane's center of gravity, not the tail.
You nose down in chase view and you're looking at the belly of the plane.

But I don't have $10,000 dollars.

:-)

Interesting! Thank you for sharing it with us, I would have not seen it if you have not posted it here.

I was definitely surprised to see Oleg Maddox listed as part of the project.

Well it is brought to you by the same people who put a P-51D Mustang in modern day Georgia after all...

I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

This is the first Kickstarter / crowdfunding project that I've ever been tempted to contribute to, but only because a P-47 is promised. That said, the Thunderbolt in IL-2/FB was always just 'good enough' despite persistant texturing and loadout errors, and the 1C team made it clear throughout official develpment that the P-47 was a low priority to them. Yeah, I know, this is a whole different project with a (mostly) different team at the helm.

I've considered both Cliffs of Dover and the DCS P-51D but have held off on buying either while I concentrate more heavily on FSX. This project will fit my interests more closely though so I'll wait anxiously to see what happens with it.

I'm not sure the Planet Earth needs another WW2 game, I know the market tis there but it would be nice to see someone explore a fresher venue.

A what-if Cold War scenario set in the era between the Korean and Vietnam wars be interesting and shouldn't be too demanding from a development standpoint.

Well, as has already been mentioned, this isn't really a "Air War Over Normandy", plane set. P-47's, Typhoons, P-38 Lightnings. Hell, even the L-4 Cub, the little green grasshoppers. It was all about the "jabos". Hell, the Luftwaffe made almost no showing, due to its commitments over the homeland. You could have no German fighters in the sim, and that would actually be, sort of, realistic.
B-17s'? Normandy? Except for that mess they made at the opening stages of O

Operation Cobra, they played little part in the Normandy operation. Should be B-26's. Or A-20's. British Mitchells. If they put B-17's in the sim, do we get England, too? They weren't based in France.

+1 @ Pooch.

The proposal thus far looks to me like Ilya wants another shot at making Battle Over Europe, even going so far as to suggest an Ardennes map could be possible.

I'm 50-50 right now on backing them with a $40 contribution; if they don't meet their target on Oct. 5 then nothing is lost. If it takes off, it will be good to get in on the ground floor. However, I'm kind of afraid that development will sputter and get delayed, and in the end this project won't go much further than the initial release, which will be free distrbution anyhow.
