In other news, one poster submitted a "hack" on how to view all ships and hangars no matter if you bought them or not. It involves only renaming certain files and the game will load that content.

Can you imagine how dull it would be having one of these things, but the people you play with go the normal route? They'll be happily playing through the game, grinding away, while you sit there in your Suburban not really able to do what they're doing. Or, you'll have it but solo and getting the crap beaten out of yourself since you're alone. Third option, park it until your friends level up to that point, but then you could've done the same and saved a couple hundred bucks.
This game better be good, because these "sales" are completely absurd.

You're thinking of a game where it's traditionally linear like in old school MMOs. It's not like in WoW where a level 1 can't go with a level 80 or whatever it is. Think of it like MWO where lights can go with the assaults and still be effective.

Who's not to say that you won't be able to go with a Cat or Constellation or Idris owner as escort on a big trade run and then split the profit? Or those bigger ships heading out to low sec space to explore and salvage with fighter escort? Sure you can do safe cargo runs in high sec space over and over but I'm betting the game won't be terribly interesting.

And the sales are effective. Went to sleep last night before the sale and the pledge count was at $19.2m. Woke up about eight hours later and it's now $19.4m. Nice little jump seeing as pledges had slowed to about $50k per day the last week.

Hope that's the case. I'll be trucking around in my little aurora deal for a while before getting up to something that big I'm sure.

With the amount of people wanting to be pirates on the forum, I'm certain it'll be almost mandatory for big ships to have some fighter escort while going out.

No matter how they talk up the power of the Constellation it'll be fodder for 2-3 fighters IMO or even one really good 325 pilot that knows how to approach and engage a big multi-turreted target like the B-17...er.. sorry Constellation.
