Some countries still use the F-4 Phantom II?

I sure don't want to get into a dogfight in a F-4 Phantom II against what's out there nowadays.

What's in the box? C'mon, what's in the boooox?

What about the Wild weasel version of the F4? I think that's still in service with some countries.

The very north of Germany
The last F4 were taken out off duty on Jul, 26 this year, they were active in the JG 71 "Richthofen" and are now replaced with Eurofighters.

Great video, THX for sharing. The F4 wasnt a German one, however, I couldn`t identify the markingsm maybe Turkey?

Nice! Those airliners were a lot cleaner than the ones I'm used to seeing, though LOL.

I'd definitely say the F4 deserves a spot in any aviation compilation, it was basically the free world's primary multirole aircraft till when, the late 70s or early 80s? Maybe even later? Besides, they look so AWESOME in the air!

That was OK, but really not much of special film. You want to change how you look at airplanes; they needed more than mostly showing airliners. Some of things like gliders doing acrobatics, biplane doing low and slow maneuvers touching wheels and picking up cloth pits with their wing tips, some Reno air racing, Red Bull racing, one of the old twins doing the elephant walk, hard crabbing approach to landing and final flare to touchdown, etc. Those are the things that really make you look at airplanes as wonderous machines.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

The RF-4 Phantom shown is a turkish bird, you can see the red/white/red rondel. They still operate them as recon birds, remember one was shot down outside Syria last year. They operate 152 Phantoms (upgraded F-4Es and RF-4Es).

I believe Greece has some as well:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_F-4_Phantom_II#Greece

Quote:
In 1971, the Hellenic Air Force ordered brand new F-4E Phantoms, with deliveries starting in 1974. In the early 1990s the Hellenic AF acquired surplus RF-4Es and F-4Es from the Luftwaffe and U.S. ANG.[88][89]

Following the success of the German ICE program, on 11 August 1997, DASA of Germany received a contract to upgrade 39 aircraft to the very similar "Peace Icarus 2000" standard.[19] The Hellenic AF operates 35 upgraded F-4E-PI2000 (338 and 339 Squadrons) and 22 RF-4E aircraft (348 Squadron) as of May 2008.

Weasels you say ehh??? smile

The last Wild Weasel F-4G went out of service around 1992...mine (F-4G 69-7207) is part of a new reef system in the Gulf Of Mexico off of Tyndall AFB (Panama City) FL in 1998. Shot down for A2A practice as a drone.

The only country I know of currently that flies F-4s at all is Japan, and it's a Japanese variant with different engines.

Wild Weasel mission was taken over by F-16CJs out of Misawa AB Japan in my old Fighter Wing (35FW).

AFAIK no variant of any Wild Weasel mission has ever been given to any foreign country. The nearest thing to the Weasel mission like I said is the 35FW out of Misawa AB with F-16s, and the Navy's "Growler" F-18s.
