No one will argue about how cool the flight model of Flanker is. As for the weapon modelling department, what do you guys think?
Does it make any sense that an ARH will start homing right after release (AIm-54, AIM-120, R77)? How can it be possible for the R33 be still chasing when its host aircraft is toast? Worst of all, even an ARH start homing right after release, it will act like its radar is as big as that on its host aircraft---it will track no matter how fast you are running off from its line of sight . It's even worse in the case of AIM-54,R33 since they are long range missiles, they can even track you in excess of maybe 70 km range, almost one time bigger than its spec value !
As a result, you have to evade the missiles by the hardway (diagonal roll, etc.) all the time. It is still ok if you are engaging 1 to 2 adversary. What do you think about those instant combat with half a dozen adversaries?
As far as I know, ARH can be fired from RWS mode, i.e., it's not necessarily to have a lock on you and even after the release, the radar can and will still paints you. However, in ths game, if you have engaged any adversaries with ARH capability, you'll know what I'm saying.
It seems that the programmer has upgrade the capability of modern ARH to something in the future, and the capability of SARH has become that of an ARH. For Crist's sake, please don't do this on LOMAC. Just curious, are the same guys behind these two games?
I did post the same talk in the forum of Flanker. I just re-post it here to drag more opinion.
