EO DAS is not that complex because they already have modelled a missile warning system in DCS, EO DAS is very similar to that combined with flying with labels on only in the case of the helmet the aircraft appear in different colours if you are looking at them.

Check out Combat Pilot, which WAS released for FSX, and the state it's in. That should be sufficient proof for pretty much anybody.

It boils down to this: don't preorder unless you have absolute confidence, and that includes KS backing.

I preordered Il-2: CloD and RO2, based on how I liked and enjoyed the previous releases, and was burned by both. $80+ wasted for those. I should've waited for release and reviews, and likely could've waited a year or so and got them a LOT cheaper once the worst bugs were gone. Frankly, though, even today neither of those games is what I hoped they'd be.

I must admit I know nothing about that, never used FSX much beside learning trying to learn basics of flight. How far ago did it come out?

I completely agree with your statement about preorder. COMPLETELY.
My gaming time and money resources are so limited that I can only buy games on sale or limited prices Virtual Items as RoF Planes and such.

That said, to me this guy is a clean slate. If he ends up doing something good, well better for everyone.
If he fails, oh- shame/whatever...
I don't like the plane and will not buy.

I just don't like bullies. Bashing on the head someone is not something I like to do.

I know I would not like it. Everyone deserves another chance.

I always wait until a sim is released until I buy it and I'm happy with what I'm buying.

With apologies to SimHQ, you may wish to read this:

Kickstarting Your Doubts thread on LOF

Before you believe some forum users anywhere, you may wish to look at the cross-pollination between the people FORMERLY behind the last failed project Kinney was involved in and the "team" behind KI.

531 Ghost counters Mr. Kinney's (and questions Carl Norman) here.

Please see the second page of the news item for Ghost's reply.

Who is 531 Ghost?

Well if Carl is vouching for him, that's enough for me. Otherwise I don't see how it's any different from other 3rd party efforts.

Oh yeah! You're a user here for more than 11 years, and you've actually written a whole bunch of articles about flight sims on websites. Like...

(Edited so there is no mistake my comment should be taken as sarcasm...)

So it's one Veteran's word against another...

Seriously, now that the KS is done for, where is the point in all this drama?

That bad eh? LOL Just to be clear. FSX Isn't the most stable environment for multiplayer and to do what Stormtrooper and I did in the time we had, wasn't easy. Not an excuse, just the facts.

Okay, Now I've got to put the Red Shirt on. What goes on in other forums, stays in other forums. That said. Keep it civil and discuss the topic.

Truthfully guys , I remember a time I would have felt the same way with regards to F-35A on the wish list. However, when found out this project was underway , I got really excited , surprising even me to the point that I wondered for a moment why. Then it hit me. Sure it's fast.( 'Bout damn time, lol.)and multi-role d stealthy and the whole shebang. But more than that, its 3 different operational scenarios. Air Force ,Marine AND Naval Ops. CARRIERS!!! I suggest that those who are so inclined to say 'No Thanks'; step back and look at the big picture before making a early judgement. By the way, there's a HUGE amount of tech info out there I'm pretty confident they can pull it off.

Well.. that's assuming A, B, and C are modeled but for all we know, he could just do the A and toss in the hat after that.

The KS plan mentioned all 3, but the A was the starting point. Given everything I think it safe to say an A model is far easier to make than the other 2, even with the added internal gun. No STOVL, no carrier ops, just a plane. So it will be the first one anyone sees.
Once you have that one, though, it's just adding on to make the other 2.

Crossing my fingers for the whole line-up. It will be interesting seeing the learning curve of handling level flight to VL, which may be reminescent of the Huey smile
