Hello Hpasp, do you plan in future more realistic PPI (IKO) indicator with things like terrain masking or so?

I try to keep or elevate the realism level of SAMSIM in each consequent release.
Realistic IKO is planned (with ground clutter), but it depends on the load on the CPU that it generates.
No point to include it, and then SAMSIM would not be enjoyable for the users with an average CPU.

Priority is Karat.
(Just imagine, low flying A-4 Skyhawk formation over Cairo...)

Yes, Karat is very very superb!!!!

The reason why I asked for IKO is to get some clues about future of SAMSIM. Maybe when time for it comes, most of the people will have even average CPU of those days, but in that time it would be like high speed CPU's now :-)
And of course such computation intensive tasks could be disabled in menu (like digital terrain just now) :-)

What about moving off dry land and onto the water with the RIM-8 Talos?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIM-8_Talos

There is a ton of good info out there to be able to simulate it.

piston79: Hmm good point, I've got the manuals for the TALOS system, all the way from GMM1 through Chief. However I will admit I don't have any good photos of the panels.

Does anyone happen to have access to the panels for the SON-9 (Fire Can) and similar radar directors? I think they'd be an interesting counterpoint to the SA-2 for the Vietnam era.

Wow, ask and I shall receive!

It's interesting to see the similarities to the S-75 panel's in the design of the panels of the SON-9. Is there much similarity in usage?

There were three "design" schemes used over the years.

Blue scheme, the standard Coldwar color...

S-25M Berkut (SA-1)
S-75M Volhov (SA-2E)
S-125M Neva (SA-3B)
2K11 KRUG (SA-4B)
S-200VE Vega (SA-5B)

Silver Hammer finish, the most beautiful one...
SA-75M Dvina (SA-2F)
ZSU-23-4 Shilka
2K12 KUB (SA-6)

White finish, the modern one...
9K33 OSA (SA-8)
S-300PT Biryusa (SA-10A)
S-300PS/PMU Volhov-M6 (SA-10B)

The design color has no relation to the functionality of the equipment.

Sorry otherwise by the OT Hpasp...... a interesting new incoming feature from DCS:W CA

Quote:
12 July 2013 - DCS News Update

Other parts of our team are working on new elements for Combined Arms. Two of many new features includes a radar display for radar-guided air defense systems and more realistic fire control systems for armored units. I've attached an early work in progress image of the new radar display.

that move to a pilotable vehicles with "plausible" systems or similar)

Okay, I don't know what that is.

SA-13? SA-11? I'm confused.

Is it coming to SAM Simulator?

Wow, SON-9, SA-11 and SA-8. Future is looking bright!

I'm imagining some distant future version SAM Simulator, where we can play with each over the internet, SA-2s, SA-3s ... SA-999, Shilkas, SON-9s, even IADS. An entire air defence system with humans actually controlling things.

Then some smart person can create a way of connecting us to DCS World, so we can shoot down all the human pilots who are used to playing against stupid AI air defences biggrin
