OK I recieved my copy today and I have to say I'm not impressed. The game stutters and grinds along at an average of 7fps according to fraps. This is on a 1.2Ghz Athlon Geforce2 Ultra 64mb 128 Mb Ram system And also, why the hell wasn't the 2.5 patch put onto the CD? This means I have to go and download it, now for me its not a problem as i have DSL, but if I had a dial up 56k I would be extremely pissed off. I shall look into my stuttering problem later and post any info here

Sounds like you got an unofficial disk there.

The 2.5 re-release comes as a fully patched release to 2.51 as far as I know and is not even in stores or available yet.

Cheers

This is an official release on the Focus label. It was released yesterday. Anyway i have managed to solve my frame-rates but when I click on either the Missions, Campaign or editor buttons i get the message "not avialable in OEM" what gives?

well apparently after talking to Focus rech support it would appear that a batch of OEM disks were shipped by mistake. I just happened to get one I need to return the disk to them for replacement.

I was gonna say, that sounds strange.
The main issue with 2.51 was the training missions worked with 2.5 but the 2.51 patch (which you really DID need) made the missions unusable again.
Carl said this rerelease would straighten out those missions.

Carl,
Will the fixed missions be available for those of us with 2.0 that DL'd 2.5 and the 2.51 patch?? Sometimes I take long breaks between Flanker flights and need some catch up training.

jema,
Really? I've not tried, I'd just seen numerous reports that they didn't work with 2.51. I'll have to give them another shot.

You can't install the new training missions into 2.51, you have to install them into 2.5 and then apply the 2.51 patch ( the original 2.5 exe is a handy thing to have saved somewhere for this sort of thing).

After installing this way, the trainers all work fine for me..........

Hi guys,

I remade the corrupted training missions for this 2.51 jewel case release since the ones that did't work after 2.5 was patched to 2.51 were my original A2A combat and refueling tracks.

I redid the tracks from scratch and they work fine on my machine but when Carl got them and tried them on his they didn't play back correctly. I think he still included them on the re-master and the part where I explain the HUD and combat modes play fine but when I go to engage the incoming bandits the track then doesn't play back correctly.

Since the part where the explaination is ok and you can learn from them, I think Carl decided to keep them on the new CDs.

Cheers

Hi Grem!

Stinger is in the closet ... I couldn't use that nick on the Ubisoft forum and since I'm a moderator there I decided to go with a new nick.

Not new really since "shepski" has always been my email address.

Cheers

Does this OEM version have the Ubi Soft lable on the packaging? I suspect not.

The Flanker 2.5 we are releasing has just now (this week) began to hit the shelves here in the US and has not been released in Europe.

I suspect you either have a pirate version or an OEM version the TLC/Mattel released last year.

"Does this OEM version have the Ubi Soft label on the packaging? I suspect not".

Actually it (OEM version)says Ubisoft Exclusive on the bottom left corner of the front cover followed by Focus Essential in the bottom right.

Returned my OEM version (ubi/focus software) to Amazon uk. Don't hold much hope of getting the full version from what I see here

The version you guys have is NOT V2.51. The re-master that I just made and submitted to duplication a couple weeks ago is a complete V2.51 and it titled "Flanker 2.5".

This version that is available in the UK appears to be an OEM version that is incorrectly listed as a complete version. I am looking into the situation and do what I can to correct it.

Is the game going to be available in store shelves in Canada?

Are the training missions working correctly in V2.51?

Thanks,
LM

Stormin: You say that Flanker 2.5 was released last week and "began to hit the shelves here in the US." Could you please tell me the name of some of the stores here in the US whose shelves will be carrying this sim? Will it be available at places like Best Buy or Media Play?

Will I be looking for a jewel case or a full size boxed version? Is there any manual or keycard, or is the documentation PDF? Also, since it is V2.51, do you know if there are any issues concerning Training Missions that won't work or other things reported not to work which I have read about in some of the other threads here?

Thanks!
Gryphon

I've been told that it should be at EB. It is jewel case only. PDF manual on the disk.

We have fixed most of the training missions, but there are still some strange happenings with some of the air-to-air training missions.

Okay, that's what I needed to know. Time to find the phone book and look up the nearest EB's number.

Are there any plans to keep working on the "strange happenings?"

Thank you!
Gryphon
