For a while now I've noticed that my TrackIR interferes a little with DCS World, more specifically the communications menus. It started quite a while ago. When I need to go to the communications menu in DCS, and say need to use the comms menus which use F7, F9, or F12, my TrackIR is put in the proper operational mode for those key commands. For example, hit F9 and my TrackIR pauses, hit F7 and it slows, hit F12 and it centers. All the default keys for the TrackIR. I usually cannot access the communications menus within those key commands in DCS World. So lets say I need to communicate to my AI wingman to return to formation with F7, I cannot because it just works with the TrackIR.
Never had this problem before with DCS until World. Want to now figure it out. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone got some advice in how I should deal with this? I would like to use the communication keys in DCS World like days of old.

TrackIR takes over any key commands assigned to it; just gotta assign the TrackIR to not use the F keys since they're hardcoded AFAIK in DCS World.

TrackIR takes over any key commands assigned to it; just gotta assign the TrackIR to not use the F keys since they're hardcoded AFAIK in DCS World. If you uncheck the 'trap' switch associated with each TrackIR command it will send the key press through to any other application. That said, it's obviously better making them unique to avoid conflicts.

My personal hotkey is shift (no difference in trackir for lef/right) and F12 for centering, I have unbound any other hotkeys.
This does not conflict with any keybindings in DCS afaik.

F12 is used to get out of the "smart" radio menu to the root. Like when you're talking to a JTAC and it auto forwards your commands to JTAC related responses.
Personally I use Numpad 1-3, but the only thing I really have mapped to my keyboard is the CDU keyboard letters and view keys.

You don't need to press F12 to lose the comms menu - just press the comms key again (default ` ).
Personally I change all the F keys associated with TrackIR to RCtrl- in DCS titles. I save the keyboard profile so that next time I don't have to think about it, just load the profile like any joystick one.
The mouse buttons idea sounds good, though, may give it a try (but reaching for the mouse is not much different to reaching for the keyboard, I think - though I don't have to look at it).
