The big draw for me in SC is the multiplayer and the moving around your ship in fps mode. Elite will have mp on launch but wont have the FPS mode for a while after launch. XR wont have FPS mode or MP... just cockpit view... unless they changed something since SC ED were announced.

Ah, choice, sweet choice. I would know better than forget Rogue System, though.
Sure it´s going to take longer to see it alive, but it still gives me so many good vibes...

Anyway, Rogue System and Elite for me.
SC it´s just... I don´t know... Too much hype, maybe?
It really scares me.

But I´m just me.

Well I've backed SC, elite and rouge System. Might not be enough space ( hahaha ) on my hard drive / heart for X as well.

I voted for both. Didn't know you could walk around your ship. I take it there are not just fighters then, we get larger ships too?

I X Rebirth has those stupid character models for the comms window like it has now (and always had in the X games) then I don't know if I can play it as I HATE them, they look so out of place.

Probably end up with all of them, but none are coming any time soon. SC puts out TOO MUCH info. X Rebirth might be putting out the right amount if it's far out.
I seem to collect these titles whether I play them or not, so it's a safe bet I'll have them. The good news about SC is that so many have locked themselves into it already around here that we should have a good group to get into it with at the same time. I know most of the MWO regulars have put something into it, so we'll just split our time up.

If SC manages to achieve even half of what they promised it will be awesome. X Rebirth should be great too.

Personally I'm just glad to see good space games coming out, and will be glad to support the good ones.

I've been lookin' for a way to completely disable the comms window, they really are the worst.

Both, for sure. Agreed re: those awful cartoonish animations in the comm window in X games. Ditto the stupid pilot responses during combat. Wish they'd just shut up.

As I've already bought a seat in in Star Citizen it is now hoping that I will eventually like the game.
I never liked the previous X games as I always feld that these games are economic simulators and are not good at simulating space combat (playing I-War 2 may have spoiled X for me), maybe X-Rebirth will change all that but until the game is out I will keep my distance.
I also got into Elite: Dangerous and I must say it seem to make good progress from what I can gather from the updates they give and seem to concentrate on getting a good game out there, while Star Citizen sometimes gives me the impression they're out to make World of Warcraft in space.

For me it's not enough info.

There is one major thing I would like to know. How big the space is in SC? Are there sectors like in X series, what about solar systems, are they realistic (like in Orbiter or Space Engine), is the space continuous unlike in X series?

I've pledged to the SC, but I refuse to give them more money until I know this all.

I'll get all the games eventually. SC, Elite, X:Rebirth, Rogue System, Limit Theory, etc. if they will have good single player campaign/coop play. Not interested in mmo pvp style.

CR said that they're now at 115 systems. Planets should have realistic spacing, connected with lanes like in Freelancer for fast travel. So if each system has realistically separated planets, not like X3 50km bubble sectors, that should make it huge. And you can always travel "manually" between planets, if you have the time and will.

Play some Freelancer to grasp the concept. More will be revealed in 2014.

Sadly they have already confirmed the 50km bubble sector mechanic. In a system each point of interest will have a 50km bubble (Actual size has not been confirmed). So if you had a 5 planet solar system each planet would have a bubble you could fly around in (but not all the way around the planet) as would anything else like an asteroid belt or etc. You fly between them using an autopilot system. During your autopilot flight the game can hit you with random encounters or an encounter with another player using the same space lane.

There will be no atmospheric flight on launch and no orbital mechanics or anything else like that. This is the one major letdown for me with the game but I will at least wait to see how well their system works before I make my final judgment.

I assume this is about SC. Pretty sad. I was expecting something more than that.

Thanks for the links CTR69. Too bad they are so focused on the spacecraft, not on the space itself.

I guess it will be fun and all, but that's not what I was expecting. Hopefully Elite will deliver.

But this is much better from gameplay POV, because you do your business faster. You still have great immersion since you actually have to land on a planet or a space station. You're not dealing with extremes like browsing through menus on one side and doing retro burns, orbit alignments and aero braking on the other.

This is the balancing CR talks about where they have to balance fun and realism.
