Install it twice on your hard drive and keep one vanilla for the 4.11 and 4.12 patches . The second can be patched with HSFX or DBW ,which ever you want.

You won't regret it, it's the greatest WWII flight sim ever made...it doesn't get a lot of attention because it's been around so long.

TD is really keeping the IL2 fire lit with these patches. I am all about mods, but having many of the best mods coded into the base game is just awesome. The Ki-45 in particular is one aircraft I have wanted to see included since I first bought Pacific Fighters and noticed it wasn't there. This and a flyable B5N2 Kate make 4.12 a boon for fans of the Pacific. What is really needed are some of the absolutely beautiful ships built by Asheshouse to fill out the sea borne target list.

Interestingly enough for me, I noticed another person who uses the X52 throttle/ Extreme 3D Pro joystick setup. I use this myself, and love it!!!

It's about time they included more maps that are available though!

I am loving the new fire/smoke effects when a ground or sea target is hit...OK, when does 4.13 come out?

I can't get the download because I am asked to use my original e-mail!
I only have the one and used it to register with M4T.
Do I also have to register with media fire?
It's just that I hate having too many things on my pc!

Edit,it's ok,been told what to do on MT forum.
Got half downloaded when McAfee stoped everything saying it was dangerous and had spyware and all sorts!

Yes, that is the only letdown in this GREAT patch as far as I am concerned: no new maps!

The Daidalos Team patches have not removed any maps from the sim. If you have used mods in the past then it would seem like there are fewer maps since the modified version has several more maps that have not been incorporated into the stock version of the sim.

Thanks, Wheels...It just seems like in the 'full mission builder' there are fewer rows of maps.

Team Daidalos have done amazing things with IL2 and I surely appreciate that.

I have installed another copy of IL2 and patched it to 412.
The FMB contains 94 maps, same as 411.
The QMB contains 16 maps, one more than 411.

I messed up on the QMB 412 with SAS mod count I posted yesterday because I added even more maps to that install giving me 127 working in QMB.

Actually 412 with just the SAS mod activator (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,35348.0.html) has the same amount of FMB maps =94
The number of QMB maps increased to 45, a pretty good advance.

As great as 412 is, a modded 412 is absolutely amazing.

For example: The SAS mod activator QMB PRO quick mission folder contains QMB missions for 237 maps covering WWI, the Spanish Civil War, all theaters of WWII, Korea and Viet Nam.

Adding those maps and other content (planes, effects, etc.) takes a bit of concentration but if IL2 is your preference for flight simming then you can have the whole nine yards in one sim.

Fortunately, after patching to 4.11.1 but before installing HSFX6 I made a copy of the whole directory, so now I can have both HSFX and the latest patch 4.12 on my HD and run whichever version I fancy at the moment. Haven't tested the 4.12 for long enough to make a valid comparison; putting the IL-2 1946 DVD in the drive can be pretty annoying, though, particularly that for some time I've got used to the comfort of HSFX disabling the check.

Anyway, any effort taken in order to improve the sim is highly commendable and deserves appreciation and gratefulness.

Sorry if this has been answered before. I have HSFX 6.0 installed. Do I need to uninstall IL2 1946 and then reapply all the patches in order up to 4.12 and t hen reinstall HSFX patch?

They are not compatible, so DON'T try installing 4.12 on top of HSFX. Have two installations instead: one with HSFX modded game and one with the 4.12 patched standard game :-)

That's exactly the point. We may get a HSFX version compatible with 4.12 in the future, but for now it's safe to assume we need separate installs for the TD's 4.12 and HSFX 6 (now 6.017, I believe).
