Quote:
Yagen Selling Warbird Collection , Uproar in the warbird community

One of the largest and most prized collections of rare warbirds is being sold off because owner Jerry Yagen says he can't afford it anymore.
Yagen, who recently added the world's only flying Mosquito fighter bomber to his stable of 44 warbirds, says he's always pouring money into the aircraft and he can't do it any longer.

The article linked above brought up a good point:

...Its easy to lose sight of perhaps the most important effects of the break-up of this huge collection. There are a great many people whose livelihoods were tied-in to the Yagen aeronautical empire, from the Yagen-owned Fighter Factory and MAM staff, to the myriad restoration shops and their employees who are dependent on the continuance of their work, not to mention the toll this and whatever precipitated these sales must be for Yagen himself, for whom this must be very trying indeed...

There is such a concentration of talent in a place like that. It really is a shame.

Ahhhh, but for the lack of $20,000,000.

I'll take the TBM-3. At least, if it's wings are still foldable so I can park it on the balcony (and both neighbour's balconies, and probably a little piece of their neighbours balconies...)

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

It's a shame to hear he can't afford it anymore. Hopefully the planes will end up going to people or organizations that can afford to take proper care of them.
