So what are some of your favorite rock/pop instrumentals of all time? smile

Here are mine,

One of the best B3 solos ever, from a fantastic show!

(Learned this sucker note by note, hitting rewind on my tape recorder 500 times while playing it on my old Korg CX-3 in the 80s.)

A couple from Maiden, Transylvania and Losfer Words (Big 'orra.) I wish there were some good quality live video!

Dream Theater, Erotomania.

A not-so-little something from the Motor City Madman.

And, when I think of instrumentals I think of self-indulgence and ostentatiousness, and it's hard to imagine any band being more of either than ELP.

Speaking of learning keyboard parts, I love this little gem
from Country Joe, and David Cohen's beautiful little solo
was one of the first things I learned on organ, actually
I worked it out on guitar first before I had an organ to
play it on.

The "organ" I had/have is actually a Roland Juno analog synth,
so I had to create the right matching organ tone. I had a lot of
fun copying organ tones on it, like this "clavioline" tone from
a classic from the golden age of rock instrumentals:

I'd include Parisienne Walkways, but it's got lyrics (same with Second Home by the Sea by Genesis).
