I have only found this out today (15th June)....not sure how long its been valid or how long for, but if you insert the following product code into Origin, you get the 'Close Quarters' DLC free of charge.

Just open Origin, click on the 'Origin' menu at the top left of the screen and select 'Redeem Product Code' Enter 'BF3E3' and you should be able to download it straight away.

Downloaded and installed it. No going to play them the gaming style is to Codish for me but it's free so....

To be frank I would have hoped they would have given the Kharkand expansion pack for free. These maps appeal more to me. I expect the price to drop once BF4 comes on stream.

BF4 won't be on Steam.

EA stopped selling on there since Steam wouldn't let them have their own patching system and since then EA brought out Origin.

Like you I believe Origin, despite all its flaws, is here to stay as EA want to have their own proprietary platform like Ubisoft has Uplay.
