Unfortunately (IMO) Graviteam has moved away from great armor sims/games like SF and even the beginnings of Steel Armor... and moved more to an RTS type of style... their choice and they say that's what gamer's want... but i disagree, we have plenty of RTS's... I wish they would get back into Armor simming.

again JMO... still a great company, much respect.

K42 and SABOW where unlucky with publishers. Sales where not vary good. They are BOTH GREAT tank sims IMO. With K42 the publisher (lighthouse) went belly up shortly after launch. Vary sad this. They had published K42 and tiger vs t34-85. I bought both off of them. K42 was the better of the 2 IMO. With SABOW the publisher had their heads up their arse. They released unexpected buggy version. Although fixed by Gravi within about 20 days of release, the publisher NEVER patched the game. It got not so great reviews due to the crash bug. VARY SAD. However Gravi made unnoffical patches fixing stuff and adding a TON of new features to the game. After these 2 disasters they desided to focus on battalion level games. (GTOS/APOS). They are not RTS... more like what you get if you combine the hex based war games with an RTS. GTOS is VARY good as well.

They are now gun shy on making tank sims. This is to the lose of us all. But a hell of alot of us gravi fans would kill for another realistic awesome tank sim from them. Simple survivial as a company thing....they make more money off of GTOS that they ever did off of k42 or SABOW. In the end as a small fry company from Ukraine they have great difficulty finding good publishers. They make realistic niche war games. We are in the era of dumb games like COD and take your pick of RTS half brain games. This is what publishers want to put out there. And lots of people buy. Flight sims are making a come back....I hope it will grow into ground warfare games that are REALISTIC. IE pass the Veterans test for real.

Thanks for the info
Do you have any thoughts on SABOW or K42? Like which did you like better?

I'm going to download the demo of GTOS as those types of games aren't my cup of tea but it looks so cool I have to give it a look seed.

Well you got eastern front ww2 (released in 2008) A ton of user made stuff for it. Then you have SABow.. Pretty much 1980's with 60's tech tanks. The simulation level of the t62 and m60 is much greater than in K42. Also uses APOS/GTOS style operational map. Meaning a more dynamic campaign experience. The Hooper campaign is top notch. THe Soviet Afgan is interesting. The Iran Iraq war is a challenge due to the land being so flat. Honestly this is a get both situlation IMO.

GTOS is certainly worth a shot. It is NOT an RTS in the conventional sence. Graviteam calls it a battalion level simulation. I think that much more fitting. LEarning curve IS higher for both SABOW and GTOS. BUt you learn one the other is a snap. K42 is more linear in all aspects but the stock missions do have some random elements.

And if ONLY we had SABOW meets GTOS I think I would be in heaven. biggrin

piiman, you can get SF 42 on Gamersgate. By far the best WW2 tank sim available. To see what the game has to offer you can check our forum on :http://graviteam.com/forum/index.php?board=1.0

That being said Graviteam makes excellent stuff all around so you can't go wrong with any of their games.

Me too I wish they would go back to tank sims but budget-wise it's more profitable for them to make RTS.
