Well got up and running SB today and have noticed that no joystick inputs are being recognized by SB. I'm running win7 64bit and Have a TM Warthog and well as other sticks and none work. I've looked at a lot of threads but they are very old and didn't help. Whats the secret?
2. How long does it take to get posting permission on Steelbeast.com forums? I've been signup for some time but still can't post there?
on the Controls screen is Joystick chosen and not Control handle?
on the Devices and Printers section of the Windows 7 Control Panel, highlight your Joystick by placing the mouse pointer over its icon, then click on File and then on Game controller settings.
click on Advanced and make sure your Warthog, or other Joystick, is set as the Preferred device. I have a CH Combatstick USB.
...another frequent error would be that there was a typo in your email address when you registered. You may want to send an email to Webmaster (@SteelBeasts.com) to notify him about the issue.
I contacted the admin and although my address was correct for some reason gmail wouldn't accept emails from steelbeast.com. All setup now though. So when are you going to start giving us lots of detail about 3.0 aren't we less than 6 weeks away? :-)
Yes Trying to figure this thing out while I wait, so far I've just been a big Steel Target.:-)
Who wrote the keyboard configuration? If they still work there please go over to their desk and poke them in the eye for me with a sharp pencil. :-) that thing is terrible! I will take that back if you can tell me how to back out of an accidentally selected item without having to press some key combo that will get recorded for that item. You know escape without changing it. The 'clear' option will clear the item selected but the 'default' doesn't set that item to its default it set ALL keys back to default. Aaaahhhhhhhh not fun after you just spent 20 minutes configuring keys. :-) I tried the cancel button but once an item is selected it seems dead. The reason I accidentally select items is that by clicking the window to activate it, that same click will select something. It should only activate the window on the first click if its not the active window not activate and select. You can see how much I hate it. Lol :-)
Oh, where is the anti alias options? I see the manual talk about them but Dont see in the display options
Other than that pretty cool sim :-) It Will be better once I learn how kill the bad guys and work the keyboard config screen :-)
I'm by far nor expert tanker or gamer... but do play a lot of small unit missions, usually platoon size... which I find is the best way to learn this game/sim... after you have the tank range down to keyboard reflex. (Also, IMO, I use to play with a stick, but since switching to keyboard and mouse...a lot easier and more smoother.)
Here's a small mission video i did that shows the basics of controlling a platoon, moving the tanks and the gunner position... that might help a new guy...

Cool I'll check it out. Yeah I use a stick but find I have to use the keyboard a lot anyway so maybe I'll try it without. However I don't like how the mouse moves the views but maybe if I get used to it it'll be better. Where can I get smaller missions? The ones that come with it seem fairly large and confusing.
SimHQ use to have all my files in the download section for this game, but I guess no more... best i can offer is check out the download section at www.steelbeasts.com and download all the "platoon" missions, or the easy/small missions in the search feature.
