Overall I enjoyed the film...it really made me miss when the old series was on t.v. ...yeah im that old...
Anyway, I loved it when Spock does his Vulcan neck pinch on Khan and Kahn goes "AAAARggghhh!!!" and fights through the pain to turn around and punch Spock. Cool Stuff!

That's why they are built in Space Docks and have shuttles and transporters. If I remember the first movie, wasn't there a starship being constructed on Earth at the beginning of the movie? I do agree tho' that starships should not be capable of atmospheric flight - at least in TOS & earlier ST movies I don't recall any such scenes. +2 for Carol Marcus in her underwear

Some nitpicky things.
What was the purposes of robocop firing the kahnsicles down to Klingon? Were they supposed to land and release or just kill the occupants to piss of Khan? That would piss off the Klingons? It dosent take much to make them mad, but launching people at their planet instead of warheads, especially if they end up as craters in a desert dosent seem too bad.
When they found the transporter device and realized Khan had gone to Klingon, why didnt they just round up some special forces and follow him? Do they even need ships anymore if you can blind transport those distances and into starships at warp, like in the first movie?

Well, it's a parallel universe. Not everything will play out exactly as in the previous movies (if we want to discuss it strictly within the terms and conditions of the storyline).
Discussing this on a meta level: Would you really want complete remakes? (May I just remind you that it was usually a 50:50 hit/miss ratio with the old films...)
No, it's a good thing that they broke the gridlock of an established timeline and universe. They can pick the best of previous movies and episodes, twist them a little, and present them as new. Those who know the TV shows in and out will occasionally be given a nod with more or less obscure references and in-jokes, and overall it allows (at least in principle) for better stories to be told. What they make of it is an open question, but I like what I've seen so far. The cast is really good, and they all do a superb job recreating the characters without becoming totally epigonal. Well in Star Trek (2009), They deleted the scenes where the Narada takes Nero to V'Ger to Calculate where and When Spock will arrive. They also deleted the Scenes after the Kelvin was destroyed, the Klingons show up and Capture the Narada and it's crew, they spend years on the Klingon Prison Planet, then breakout of prison and retreive the Narada and destroy the entire Planet. The Ship Takes them to V'Ger and V'Ger Tells them When and Where Spock will emerge.

There's no doubt the transwarp beaming has introduced a wrinkle into ST now. It's the same problem the writers have dealt with for years. You invent or find some tech to fix some problem, and suddenly you now have to deal with the fact that it will solve your problems again and again. So then you need to invent ways to keep it from working. The transporter, when working properly, should solve so many problems. Intruders? Beam them off. Problem on a planet or other ship? Beam them off. Bomb on board? Beam it into space. On and on. Therefore things like "ion storms" or the nebulous "interference" were created to prevent it from being a deus ex machina over and over again.

After seeing Cumberbatch do such a great job in Star Trek now I want to see his Sherlock Holmes tv series. It is a great series. In the first episode, when Sherlock Holmes introduced himself, it was a lesson in drama that should be taught to every art student. I was watching on Netflix and nearly stood up to applause.

Compared to characters on the original series...
Kirk looks like Kirk... Spock looks the part... The worst offender used to be Scotty, still don't buy Pegg in this.
But now comes Frederick Cucumber and stands in the screen and says, "Hey, I'm Kahn!" and I am supposed to ignore the fact that the re is already an established characterization of Khan and gobble that up. riiiiight...
Don't get me wrong, I think he has great charisma, voice and I love the Sherlock TV series. But to me he is utterly miscast as Khan. His dialogues resonate, thanks to his impeccable diction and great tone. But his is a punching and running Khan. He was killing for revenge on his supposition that his crew was killed. Not against Kirk... boring.
It would had worked better if his character was not Khan.
And why did they had to do all the chase scene at the end? They had 72 cryotubes filled with genetically enhanced dudes JUST LIKE KHAN....and not only that, but they had already unwrapped one Popsicle guy to freeze dry Kirk.
STUPID!
And the ending with the miracle resurrection blood seemed rushed and just another one of the thousand writing gimmicks in sci-fi (which this movie is not... miracle blood = fantasy land).
The good: The movie is entertaining. The characters are likable.
