cool but i don't understand the overboard reactions, this is the exact same principal as something like a zoetrope, or an animated scribble in a child's notebook.

hell every movie theater operates on the same principal.

Not many people get to play with a strobe that is in sync with a rotating object. Hell, I'd be surprised if they knew what a zoetrope was.

Still cool though, even moreso that they put the effort in in the first place.

I guess it's been 45 years since people regularly went out
dancing to strobed lighting. I think after they found they
were carting off a few convulsion victims the fad kinda got
shut down. Too bad, it was great fun. The older brother of a
friend of mine provided equipment for light shows, and built
the electronics for a strobe with a monster xenon flash
mounted in a reflector made from an old fridge, lined with
aluminum foil, that could light up a whole dance hall.

I for one miss those moments of awe and wonder what I was a child and saw things that I couldn't explain to myself. Of course, I then wanted to find out all about it (and in the process destroyed the illusion and sense of wonder that came with it). So, this is still very nice, and one thing that the video doesn't capture I guess is the fact that it's a zoetrope in full 3D, which probably elevates it beyond "nice" if you're standing in front of it.

But it's awesome that someone took the effort to make this - hat's off to that!
