I am not interested in the politics but I am very curious how the Suter will fair against the SA-10.

I suspect Israel will continue to bomb Syria with impunity and with no loss in Jets.

I think Israel will bomb the SA-10s before they have them set up and operational.

It might be hard to even find a mobile system before its up and running, see the Desert Storm Scud hunts or the mostly unsuccessful vehicles hunt during Allied Force.

I'm sure their Pantsirs will be bodyguarding the S-300s as well.

This would be the first time in 40 years that Western forces would have gone up against would have gone up against major air defense technology of the same generation, other than a few (technically compromised) Rolands in Desert Storm and a handful of SA-13s in Yugoslavia.

with satellite and camera sensor tech as advanced as it is now, it would be possible to track the containers containing missiles from their departure point all the way to the receipt point, and then follow every single split shipment from that point on.

then there are also unmanned solar drones which can fly for a week at a time at 60,000 feet or higher and photograph everything below it.

if mossad knows what it's doing they'll know exactly where everything is and be ready to destroy it when necessary.

I would bet on significant Russian assistance at this point, not just electronics and maskirovka specialists but also SVR counter surveillance.

And I would think drones would have a very hard time against any kind of functional modern air defenses.

Depends on the drone. There are a lot of things that affect detection by radar, but generally speaking you probably wouldn't need to power up a big bad SA10 to deal with those.

That said, if it's just one system, then it's also just a speed bump.

Speed bump or not, it might be worth it to the Russians to lose a generation old export model old SAM system just to get a look at what current Western war mode only electronic warfare looks like.

If the S-300 does some damage or at least causes some disruption before it goes down, the Russians could use that as a selling point in the future.

a fiberglass or carbon fiber wing shaped high flying solar drone is going to be nearly impossible to find AND hit, not only is it naturally a stealthy shape but the radar signature of cf / fiberglass is not that strong anyway, add to that the fact that they fly so slowly they may not even show up on the radarscope because the operators set the filter speed too high to remove clutter/false returns.

anyway, don't underestimate aerial and space surveillance. people can see everything these days. they don't need an airplane to do it. israel likely has a huge number of spy satellites at its disposal.

ECM is a rapidly moving target, they won't get much. As for sales, I don't know why that would even be an issue when planning an attack against the thing, or despite it.
