Not really.

There's a reason virtual squadrons with good training programmes are still sought after. biggrin

BTW, make sure you know where your "meatball" is.

Too harsh, -Ice smile

I will take all of the help I can get. At the very least I appreciate his efforts. BMS is complicated and the large majority of sims are AWFUL at training new players.

Remember LB2? THAT game got training right. Freespace 2 as well. Proper training has been ignored for too long. Youtube and generous users are a godsend!

I'm sorry, but I simply cannot support this one. I believe that if you teach something, you teach it correctly, not some haphazard attempt and winging it all the way. Did you watch the one where he's trying to teach, then he refers to his notes, but all the while the in-game capture keeps moving coz he's got TIR on?

"Let's try to find a building... Hmmm... no buildings... okay, so pretend there's a building there, I know there isn't but just pretend..." Not really my idea of a training video.

You do know about this thread, don't you? Your half-hour could be better spent rather than watching those vids. Just my 2 cents.

Bless Klaus for trying but he's a source for interesting new angles on old topics not as a first-time tutor. Someone with experience can recognize and discard when he does something weird/wrong or uses a term incorrectly and still come out after the video more educated. First time learners are going to pick up bad habits or wrong ideas along with the nuggets.

Also all of those videos come to 8.5 hours. The feller is loooong winded. Never 5 words when 50 will do. Given 510 minutes of your attention I could teach the same things, basic trigonometry, french cooking, and knitting. The videos are more about how to fight than how it works which is a pleasant rarity but you want a good bit of academic background under the belt before you subject yourself to the y'alls and shouldas of Mr. Fastanloose.

I appreciate the offer of having a mentor but, I am more comfortable learning on my own.

I have been through F4AF campaigns with a regular crew that flew together every week so I know the game, I just don't know the depth of switchology that BMS brings.

I can attest, his videos are helping me. He gets some concepts wrong but, in the end, it does help.
