I have a problem (no not that ). I've just built a new system and all my sims run beautifully... except Flanker 2.

Whenever I play Flanker 2 it's almost as if it's going into fast forward every second then back to normal. It's difficult to explain but imagine playing it with someone switching on accelerated time and then turning it back to normal every other second. I'm pulling my hair out here! Help!

System is 950mhz Athlon, 256MB RAM, V5 5500, SBLive 1024, IBM Deskstar 30GB UDMA100, Abit KA7-100.

Thanks in advance.

Serves you right for having such a high powered system. I never have that problem on my lowly k62-400.

Nick,

Hmmmm....What are you using for controllers?
You might have a key sticking in your setup of your stick or throttle. (If you are using one).

This key that is sticking of course could be the actual key stroke that engages the accel feature in the game.

Hope this might help your problem.

Thanks for the reply Clutch. I'm using an MS Sidewinder Precision Pro at the moment. A decent HOTAS setup is a priority for me when my bank account recovers I don't think it's a key sticking because I haven't actually mapped any keys to the stick yet. I've been told that this problem is linked to the Athlon CPU. I don't know if this is true or just heresay. Does anyone else here play F2 on an Athlon system?

I had the same effect in versions 2.0 and 2.01. My system specs are just slightly different from yours, a K62 450. OK maybe more than slightly. This happened when the CPU load got high, over cities and so. Still happens if I accelerate time, say 8x, in 2.02.

I assume you have it patched?

Yup, I do have it patched to 2.02. Funny thing is that it actually ran better on my old system, K6-2 400mhz, TNT1 and 128MB RAM.

You might want to try "moslo" Nick, not sure if this would work in win95/98 though?

I used to use it in my early pentiums to slow down the computer to get Falcon 3.0 to run.

I had the same problem when I was using the V5 5500 with 4xFFAA on, swith back to 2xFFAA and disable FFAA, F2 ran much smoother. It seems to me that V5 dosen't run games which use larger textures well.

Thanks for the reply HG. I actually tried that last night. It runs fine in 2xFSAA or no FSAA.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Problem sorted

nick, did you read the V5 articles Crahs or Spoons did a while ago... it clearly showed that F2 is too much for 4x FSAA... what resolution you running anyway ???

Hi Pred. When I was fiddling round with the V5 settings the other night I suddenly remebered what Crash said about Flanker 2 and 4xFSAA. I'm running in 1024x768.

See ya in September - I've got to redress that kill ratio in Falcon 4

It's the 3D cockpit in F2. If you have 4x FSAA but go to an external view, it's fine. More or less...if you fly over a lot of buildings it slows down, too. But it's definitely the 3D cockpit. Better than JF-18, though, where the cockpit slows you down ALL the time.

Dude,

I had the same problem. Go into options and un mark the 32bit card under graphics it should solve the problem.
