Sorry about the bit of PIO there (back and forth)..was still getting used to it and over-correcting. Funny because those couple of weeks flying with it at the ultra sensitivity makes flying it now really a breeze. I believe the more accurate FM is based on a real Belsimtek developer pilot having flown the real Huey and tweaking it to how it really does feel. So even though there will be complaints that it was "dumbed down"..I think it actually is more accurate now.

I tried before updating and it said I have to update World and now it won't because I need UH 1.2.4.12179 but it's not posted?? BUMMER!
Any ideas or suggestions?

annnnnnd quote from EB itself concerning ''dumbed down FM''

Quote:
We certainly don't tune the FM to make it artificially easier or harder. Our goal is to make it as correct as possible. This is based on correct modeling of the physical dynamics and feedback from our actual or former Huey pilots involved with testing.

Oh..I've always been a bigger fan of rotors than fixed wing. Going all the way back to Gunship for the Commodore 64 I've really enjoyed the hunt and kill part of flying helos..and the constant attention to flying that is required. LB2 and EECH are still among my top favorite sims...

Now if DCS comes out with an Apache of some sort..man..I'll be in heaven!!

Funny thing you mention that. I was talking to an online wingman the other day about the same thing. I've really come to enjoy the helicopters more in DCS. I think the A-10C is such a well detailed and developed aircraft in the sim but to be honest I don't really fly it much. It just does not do it for me personally like the helicopters we have do. I've always enjoyed the aspect of getting "down in the weeds" and having to constantly pay attention flying the thing or you end up hitting a building, or power wires etc. With the tweaked flight model we just got, I was practicing landing in very small, short areas enclosed by buildings and such...having so much fun.

I'm going to really enjoy the new Mi-8 when we get it. Also the Hind when it comes. Hopefully the Apache Alpha as well some day. Would also love to eventually see (if possible) the Italian Mangusta, a Blackhawk, the newer, more modern U.S. Marine Huey would be cool. The AW159 Wildcat would also be something I would love to see simulated. We can always dream can't we?

Neat! I do wish that we had the option of having a Huey in DCS which did not have the side MGs on station.

Good idea, would allow for all your civilian applications of the Huey.

Indeed. Gunship on the Amstrad CPC6128 was my 1st flightsim, still has a special place in my heart.

Wow. Nice update. The helicopter actually feels like the the centre of mass is hanging below the the centre of balance now, rather than balancing on top of it. Before, when hovering, the helo felt like it was constantly trying to pitch/roll off to one side. Now it feels like it's trying to settle down into a level attitude, like the helo is hanging from the mast/rotor. Much easier this way!

Ohhh Gunship on the c64 was so great back then smile That and F19 Stealth Fighter from Microprose stole a lot of my time back in the days smile The F117 was just a rumor back then so they made a flight sim based on the rumor and the plane in F19 looked so sweet.

One thing I really miss from these old sims where the game part of them. You felt you were part of a war etc. I miss that in the current DCS sims..... However, the FM of the Huey is just sweet and I look forward to getting good enough with the basic controls to try some of the missions that are being created already.

Noob in current sims, but played tons of combat sims back in the 80's and 90's

Flying:
DCS World 2 Beta
Prepar3d primarily GA planes
Elite Dangerous

And I love games like XCOM, Fallout etc

Well the new FM is a definite improvement .... three decent landings in a row (from hover and with the same helicopter) ... This is easy I start thinking... then bam instant VRS and a crater in the runway ... oh well more practice needed

Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.

The only thing more accurate than incoming fire, is incoming friendly fire
