So I'm thinking of picking up the channel map and one of the float planes as a birthday present to myself. As a result I just wanted to ask those that have flown one or both of the planes to see if there is one that people enjoy more than the other. I mostly fly offline but enjoy a variety of aircraft. Thanks for the input.

I really love the British sky-boat!

The German float plane is mostly useless in game. Historically it was a recon plane and the game does not do very much recon. It is really fun to fly though. As an offline flyer you wont see much use to this plane other than getting shot down a lot.

The Flying boat is a lot better choice. It has a lot more uses but it is a large bomber so if you dont like flying the large bombers I would grab the german one. I think the flying boat has a lot more uses though for the offline campaigns.

The Felix gets quite a bit of use on Flying Circus if that sort of thing floats your boat... With the big gun, cockpit Lewis and dustbin of doom the weapon mods are interesting and worth picking up.

I also enjoy flying the HB, but yeah, it is underpowered.

I will also add my vote for the Felixstowe. I'm surprised how much I enjoy flying it. Using it in both the beta career and in Paul Wilson's campaign generator you will have a blast doing the various missions. Good luck and enjoy!

There's plenty of recon missions for it in career mode.
