A couple more... Here we have an OH crap moment...

A FULL company of m60 MBT's out to eat my lunch of 2 Soviet army type t55 platoons.... 3 tanks in this sort of platoon. My BMP's are dangerous to tanks....but in a long range fight are at massive disadvantage. Only their AT3's have range to engage effectively but they are not the greatest thing ever to start with. PLus real LOW rate of fire on their AT missiles.

I hate fighting on the open desert planes. And SO will you unless you have over whelming numbers. Luckily the open desert areas can be somewhat avoided in the operations map. Unless YOU THINK you have over whelming force. LOL Then it is worth attempting to flank the bad guys.

What war is this supposed to be?

Also shouldnt BMPs only capability against tanks be their AT missiles? so it wouldnt matter if its short or long range?

This is a soon to be released DLC for Graviteam Tactics Operation Star about a hypothetical conflict between the USSR and Iran in Afghanistan 1979.

One of the developers Andrey said it is based loosely on real events that quite possibly could have taken place.

I'm just happy to finally see some NATO- Warsaw pact hardware in the game even if it is in an alternate reality setting.

BMP1... Primary weapon is 73mm grom gun. Fires either FRag round or Heat round. The heat round is roughly equivalent of an RPG7 Heat round. But range is BAD. 1000 meters is asking ALOT from it. A point target........FORGET it. A point target moving...REALLY forget it. The AT-3 saggar missile is early AT missile type. Better than what came before it, but not super great. Ask the IDF in 73 war as to its effectiveness. At close range an AT3 is pretty much uncontrollable. It needs to get out there before you can really guide it. Loading a missile onto your IFV under fire is a bit tricky.. LOL> While your doing that in a BMP NO ONE is firing the gun. Even to this day loading tows into a m2/3 bradley means pretty much stop what your doing and sit there as a BIG FAT TARGET and load up the launcher/s

I fired the dragon ATM in the Army and one thing about those is they kick up a lot of dust and debris and it bucks a little when fired,so it takes a few seconds to get your cross hairs back on the target while the dust settles and you get your sight alignment back on target to guide it to the target. So yeah,it's not a very close in weapon.I don't don't recall whether it has a minimum arming range although I'm pretty sure they do though, because I've seen guys fire them into the ground a couple hundred meters out and they didn't explode.

Ya I watch a tow2 go nuts fired off an M3a2 made it about 60 meters and plowed into the ground. Of course no boom boom.

Oh reminds me... Watched a guy shoot an AT4 into the ground....it did go boom boom. But made it out to around 100 meters...so I am sure it was suppose to do that. biggrin

I just installed it and played around. Seems nice. I can't seem to find any air power in the quick missions or the encyclopedia. Where does one find the Hind?

Helicopters and fixed-wing aviation have been intentionally removed from the encyclopedia because they were "too big". frown

Air support can be found in the reinforcements list of a platoon, when you right click it.
