Hi,

This topic was made for Baur`s KG13 project. Baur is a very talented designer from Russia. He is well known about his clever simulator components like control sticks and pedals within the russian speaking community.
This topic was opened by me to overcome his language barriers. He is using google translate to commucitate in english, what is quite a challange, but his work and pictures tell more than 100 words.

Here are some pics about his ongoing KG13 Steuerknuppel design and production.

Hopefully he will share his work with us here in the future!

Hi all! I have been inspired by the work of VO101MMaister - http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3133178/MMaister_s_KG13A_project.html#Post3133178/url I want to say THANKS to him!!!

I started work two years ago - http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=629
For a long time collecting drawings and photographs. ON this forum I greatly helped.
Therefore, in gratitude, I will show here the result of the work. It is not completed.

In the future I want to show a lot of interesting things. Especially the end of the work - modular cockpit. For him I do KG13.

Details will soon make plastic. I want to ask you for advice. Make an all-black version (V. 1)? Make a black and gray version (V. 2)? It will be better? You can do both options smile

Great work, Baur.

Will the grip be usable with the Warthog base or the new VKB Black Mamba base? Black Mamba base

I think a standardized joystick connection would be great.

Cheers,

FC

Grip get the price a lot of money (220-260 euros). Manufactured little. Myself and the guys that make Kickstarter. Will not a lot - to offer you. This production is commercially disadvantageous frown

That's unfortunate to hear, I was very interested in your project. If you decide to start a Kickstarter, please let us know!

It took me two years to make this model. How to evaluate this work? It was interesting to try.

I believe Baur was referring to the value of his work which has taken 2 years. If he were to release the files to others for printing on their own, how much should he sell these files, as fair compensation for his work on them? I believe this is what he is saying.

Baur, I am interested in getting one of these for my sim set up. Please let me know when you have one for sale.

Ahh, now I get it!

I'd just like to be able to print a couple for my projects - it wouldn't be for public release or re-sale (unless we came to an agreement about that - I'd be happy to print them for the US market to save duty/shipping costs and pay some royalty percentage to Baur)

CAD design and 3D design is hard work.Took me a week to draw up an F111 main panel in 3D on and off.

I will make an announcement in this thread. You tell me what color like? I want to make the grip of black and gray-black.

It was very difficult to come up with the installation of the buttons. Most time was spent on the bomb release. Corrugation on the handle was done in format stl.

I continue to work. Some details have already been made. But I have no more money to finish. Here you can read the news - http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=629&start=630
I plan to put my version of KG 13D (game) here on these devices -
1. joystick on the floor - http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=704
2. stick under the chair - http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=758

I'm doing two versions of the painting. And I still need your advice. The hammer of brass painted black? Or leave as is - yellow? It is clear what I'm asking?

The Russians are coming. The Russians are coming.

IL-2. Then DCS, VKB and now BRD. More great engineering.

(Okay, okay. Can't forget Chekov, Solzhenitsyn, Gogol, Tarkovsky, Gagarin...)

Where do we sign up to buy your terrific bit of kit?

Regarding the hammer. Simple brass is less paint, thus cheaper production cost. People who care can paint it themselves.

I suspect most buyers will want historical accuracy.

Have you figured out the spring for the trigger? Usually the spring works well in one direction. Either you flip the trigger from safety with a nice snap or you return it to safety with a snap. My experience is that the trigger cannot go from up and down with the same crisp snap. How did the historical K-13 function? Does anyone know?

Keep up the good work, Baur. Keep us informed of your progress and where you want us to send our rubles.

Cheers,

Flying Colander

I stopped accepting applications. A lot of work frown Do not have time to do. Lot of guys in Russia are waiting for their joysticks and pedals. I can not take more and more orders.

In the process it was found that the trigger is better to make brass smile Now it looks very elegant - as a gift for the New Year :)))))) For historical accuracy, it should be painted in black color - it is a pity such a beauty :)))) But Of course you're right - this is the main story!

I figured out how to work the mechanism. It is very important to do it right. That there was no question - I will post the video.

Yes, I will be in this thread to talk about the news. And the start of the sale. To my regret KG 13D get a very expensive frown I'll do a separate topic at the forum, where the tell why this is so.

Thank you for your interest in my work!

Your work seems very very promising, to say the least.
Forgive me if it's too early to ask - but so, since you posted those production photos, does it mean that there will be a purchasable product anytime soon?
And if yes, how? And where from? Is it possible to pre-order?
Thank you, and keep up your amazing work!

The remaining items are now in transit to me smile I get them only at the end of December. Silicone mold allows you to make 25 quality castings. Therefore, a total of 25 sets will be. Half already booked in Russia by reservation. The product obtained is VERY expensive: (. WE are all accustomed to plastic devices that are cheap.
But if it is doing a series on the many many thousands of pieces. A small-batch production turns out expensive.
I glued in January parts soldered buttons and make an interesting topic of sale. There I briefly discuss the whole process of two years of work. You can read it using Google translator.
This work was very interesting for me.
While I will not show photos of the finished product - I can not publish the final price. Sorry!
Follow this topic to make a booking. I doubt there will be another batch of products manufactured. I do handle for themselves and guys. And my goal will be achieved.
I will publish news about my work.

Yeah, I figured they were switches. What I didn't know is what their original function was supposed to be...

Price for residents of Russia together with shipping and insurance Russian Post - 270 euros for the course.

For residents of other countries with mail delivery Russia - 280 euros or 380 dollars. I want to note that the delivery outside Russia parcel is not insured . I confirm the fact of sending a check and a reference to track the passage of the parcel.

@ The Winger:
yes, grip with electronics only.

@ Baur:

On page 3 of this thread the CGI image shows the grip attached to a BRD joystick base.
Can you confirm that this is compatible with the joystick bases for:

VKB joysticks?
Thrustmaster Warthog/Cougar ?
others?

Can you provide some links or pictures with the stick attached to other modified stick bases.

Very nice looking grip BTW... Looks like better manufacturing quality than the original WW2 KG13! biggrin

No, joysticks listed installation is not available. I do not plan on doing more. It is difficult and the most important thing - you need a lot of money frown I have written - I wanted to make myself KG13 :))

Thanks Baur. I understand.
With a controller unit, such as Leo Bodnar's BU0386 or similar, it should be possible to create a joystick + base using your grip.
I wish you success and look forward to seeing what your customers put together smile

Hi Guys,

Great looking grip there Baur.

With Baur's permission I can easily get his grip to work with our new Mulit-Grip Cyclic base. It's designed for helicopter use, but will work equally well for fixed wing flying. All I would have to do is make an adapeter to attach to the bottom of the grip, add an appropriate length of tube and then add my Mulit-Grip adapter to attach it to my base unit.

Sorely tempted by the Baur grip, but I just can't afford it right now.

The horrible bit is by the time I can, there will be no more available

Hot damn! Baur's been holding out on us. He makes joystick gimbals too?!

That's some terrific kit you've got there, Sokol.

Where do we sign up, Baur?

Congratulations and Happy Flying, Sokol.

Keep up the good work, Baur.

Cheers,

Bauer make (and sold) metal laser cut kit for gimbal assembly - that is done with nut and bolts, and rivets.
Options for adapt in COTS joystick or DIY desk mount, long stick. The laser cut ensure precise assembly for ball bearings.

I dont know real numbers, but seem they are affordable.

BTW - These pictures is not mine (unfortunately), is from one Bauer consumer from Russia. I link then here to show more of Bauer work. wink

Very nice setup! I especially like the replica einhet pedals! they are looking really sharp!
Baur is quite a designer. It is a pity that most of his work is hidden from us on russian forums.

Sorry, Sokol, I thought "one happy Baur customer" meant you. Dreaming is free.

MMaister, you are right about all the great, hidden work on the Russian forums. I only know of it because of Sokol's reports to the rest of us non-Slavic fliers. I think the Russians are leading the way in all things flight sim. They're programming the next gen games, BoS and DCS WWII, and building great hardware, VKB, Baur, Slaw & Milan (Eastern Europe).

Just missing Norway... Still trying to convince you to go commercial with your designs, MMaister! Hint, hint. No pressure, mate.

Cheers,

FC

Thanks for the help Sokol1! With your help, I also learned a lot.
Hard for me to talk about their work in foreign forums. After all, I do not speak English.

In Russia there are a great legacy from the Soviet Union - many designers, many programmers. And we are now making weapons for virtual wars. :)))

I have four years here doing this joystick - http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=704
This year will be the next optimization. Get version number 4.
Even before I do this this new model - http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=758&start=15

He can be put and KG13.

NOT a lot of pedals -
http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=682
http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=716
http://avia-sim.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=772

But selling to Europe from Russia is very difficult. frown I sent KG 13 22.01.2014 in Germany. Sending still did not come. frown I'm very excited!

Sokol1, I will be happy if you continue to help me.

Baur, if you sell stick bases with interchangeable grips, all of us here will be yelling "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" faster than you can take it all.

Someone else I met says that your gimbal design is the best-engineered on the market with the cam system. Better than the Black Mamba, better than the U2-NXT, better than everything. Perfect smoothness and easily-tailored force profiles are possible with it, he claims.

I'd like to try one out myself, but obviously, ordering a gimbal is a bit of a problem. I bet you'd make a lot of sales by selling Saitek X-52 mod kits of the sort I saw pictures of somewhere; that's actually how I first heard of you.

Alternatively, I'd suggest selling stick bases with the user's choice of stick grips. KG13s are too simple for my tastes, but a near-authentic MiG-29, Su-27 or Su-35 grip without the omissions found in the Defender Cobra M5/VKB Black Mamba grip (missing cannon trigger chief among them) would be great.

Even better yet, if you're willing to produce a force-feedback variant, make a Ka-50 cyclic and corresponding anti-torque pedals!

There's several modern grips in that thread, and they're all shaping up nicely!

I do have one minor concern about the trigger assembly, however; I only spot two microswitches, one for each trigger.

This is fine for most purposes, but due to the way DCS handles cannon modes, there needs to be a way for it to detect when the main trigger is flipped up so that it switches into and out of cannon mode, and that presumably requires another microswitch.

It's a cramped space in there, though; I'm not sure if they even have room for an additional tac switch or other form of microswitch to accomplish that.

They could also sell these stick grips for Cougar/Warthog, Black Mamba and maybe even X-55 use, but my concern with all three of those is that those sticks' grip interfaces presumably only handle digital button inputs, and the slew control on real Russian sticks is analog, of course. They'd have to downgrade that aspect to a digital hat with click-down for it to work.

Need to hurry. There are only four pieces. They are disassembled. They need to collect (glue and screw to put a button). I can do it in May.
You can pay through Western Union.

Hello Baur,
if it were possible to have it assembled and painted, would not be bad. provided that you do not create too much trouble.

Um.... YES, more pictures, PLEASE!

Balshoi spasiba!

Also, how many are there for sale? KG13 grip alone? and grip + base sets?

Are you planning another production run? Or are these just a few you have built in your spare time...

That is a work of art. It would appear the height of the stick is adjustable..? Or is that two different length shafts? I'm afraid my wallet won't allow a purchase now but I wish you much success so that if I do get the coin together you are still making these.
And yes, more pics would be much appreciated.

I can make the height of the stick on the order. But it still goes up to 52 mm.

This price is for the mechanical parts for assembly the base, no?

This: http://simhq.com/forum/files/usergals/2015/01/full-23745-95323-p108.jpg

How cost the electronics?

Another questions:

For the buyer use a existent grip, e.g. Tm F-22PRO/Cougar, CH Combatstick/Fighterstick, Suncom F-15...
the base part part that fix on grip need be specific, or are universal?

How order one?
How know the shipping?
How send the payment?

Hi, nice drawing! May I ask, do you have the CAD data for the stick? Are you working on your own sim pit?

A three-axis controller. Magnetic digital sensors RAMS . The main body of the two axes of the mode selector switch.

Procedure:
1. Connect the joystick.
2. Switch the control X,Y axes.
3. Wait 10 seconds.
4. Move the joystick all the way to the sides.
5. The joystick is calibrated - hurray!

Hello Baur

I'd like to know if it is the complete Joystick ,with the Gimbal ,electronics etc. or if it is just the KG13 Handle to connect to the Warthog or Cougar Base.

I can't speak for Baur and he will be best to answer your question but I believe some bases will be available later in the year. Nonetheless, I don't want to get your hopes up. Hopefully he will understand and be able to provide you a more accurate answer! salute

Bauer,

For what I understand Red-Yeti need the BRD base, USB controller and X and Y sensor, for use his Warthog grip (seems his Warthog base/controller is defective).

Two questions.

- How adapt the Warthog base bolt to BRD base pole?

- The new (BRD) USB controller recognize the shifter register circuit inside Warthog handle?

Similar to this, but with Warthog grip.

Red_Yeti

You need know that you cant use more the TARGET software because only work with Tm firmwares.

To use a warthog stick you need to make an adapter, such as i have done for my joystick.

You may connect the stick without modification with Njoy32 and MMjoy controllers. For BRD controller you need to use a diode matrix.
Sorry for my english.

My answer then immediately to all who wrote me a letter in a personal department. draken152, CAM_Voss
and the other guys, this is the answer for you.
Parts made in 2015 come to an end. I will list what more you can buy.

What is the price for mechanics and 2 sensors?
I don't need controller and stick.

Thank you!

Hello Baur!

When me and my friend saw your KG13 Grip stick and the controller we decided order it just now. It is precise the flight stick what I have dreamed about ten years. We both have Slaw Device's Bf 109 G rudder pedals and they NEED just your great looking stick with them:

I just posted a private message to you and wait your answer. Thank you for your great work and SALUTE!

Hmmm.

Christmas is coming. Might have to see if I can convince the house spouse to allow me to invest in this.

Might make a good SimHQ writup too.

@Baur

It came today from Sochi Russia, right before my Bday. Nice!
The payment worked easily via Western Union off my iPhone and the controller came within a month from Russia to California USA. Undamaged and in perfect working condition. The quality is as good as any name brand out there and the only way to improve it would be a metal version to match my TM Cougar/WartHog.

What I would ask Baur to consider is a Spitfire yoke and possibly a F18 and MiG29/Su27 control stick too (in this order). I have a Spitfire and MiG29 real life stick if you need dimensions.

So far it works like charm and is very good quality. Finally, a working addon control stick to the TM Cougar/Warthog controllers!

How many buttons has the grip?
Are the both thumb buttons coolie hats?
What is the cost on such a grip without Warthog adapter?
Thinking about adding one to my KG 20.
Prerequisity would be it having more than just 3 butons.

4 buttons - trigger, 2 top press button (cannon and bombs) and the "radio" button in front, bellow hand area, IRL the pilot press this button with his left hand. No HAT, this model is replica and not "game" grip. smile

Thanks Sokol and Baur for the reply.
How much is one?
And would it be possible to have the top 2 buttons replaced for 4 or more way switches like the ones offered in the VKB Grip?
I would need to do the wiring myself anyways because i intend to put it on top of my KG 20 stick.

I've been following the development of this stick for a long time and it is very exciting to see people posting pics and praise of them when they come in the mail. They look amazing. Great work Baur! This is one of those projects that keeps me inspired to make some special things for myself, one of which will eventually be a custom warthog grip. Can someone tell me how or where can I purchase the PCB inside the grip (as seen here)? Perhaps a third party makes them or do I go directly to Thrustmaster? I appreciate any help you guys can give. I don't even own a warthog yet, and god knows I'll to be asking a lot of questions. Again, congratulations to those involved with this beautiful product!

The PCB inside the Tm Warthog (Cougar, F-22PRO, F16FLCS) is a "Shift Register" with CD4021B mc to translate buttons press in serial (or parallel?) code.
BTW - Chaining Shift Register you have theoretically unlimited number of buttons (but limited be controller firmware).

AFAIK - Tm sold this for ~35 Euros.

Or try DIY: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ShiftIn

Thanks sokol1! I've been learning a little arduino for my projects and recently ordered a cheap multiplexer module to experiment with. Building sim stuff is great fun since it gives me a reason to learn about design, coding, electronics, 3d printing and even history all at once. It can be a bit overwhelming at time, but the subject matter keeps me motivated smile

Sticks arrived on monday to Finland after 18 days trip in Russian and Finnish posts and customs. This stick is best what I have EVER tried, the materials and finalizing the parts and metal components are HITECH work! The "touch" is really gooooood, now I feel that I am reakky flying a WWII fighter! pilot

Here's couple of low quality pictures, I send better as soon as I have my camera back from my friend:

Kanttori fantastic set up there. Now you need an accurate throttle to go with it!

I love this grip. I would enjoy using it to fly German fighters in DCS. Perhaps if I get some overtime funding from work that doesn't get dumped into my car, I will order one. I still don't see a price?

The grip was mentioned to be 230 euros earlier in this thread, not sure if that's the warthog compatible one though. But it would suggest that it'll be around that mark

Easy, if is the case just install GVL_224 mechanics in this X-36. Will be in same level of joystick base. wink

This year is another stick. I did more copy. There are four buttons as in reality.

I made a new, more aggressive trigger.

I saw the estimated price range, but never a final value. My interest is purely in the Warthog grip. I have my pit already set up: I can either use a real F-4 stick with a B-8 grip integrated using a BU0836x or the Warthog. Right now, I have the Warthog installed. The idea of quickly swapping grips to match the aircraft I am flying without changing out anything else is extremely appealing. I don't understand why Thrustmaster never exploited this capability. I do fly the Bf109 and Fw190 in DCS quite a bit and having an authentic grip would be very nice smile

This is a work of art! I know my Mustang grip will be much simpler, but I aspire to this quality of finish one day. I've got the circuitry sorted out. I just have to get a warthog to test things with. Thanks for the inspiration! salute

After a 18 days trip from Russia to Germany my BRD-DS arrived a few days ago. Again ,many thanks to Baur.

Yesterday I finaly had the chance to actually try the Stick out ingame for the first time. Very smooth and precise movements are now possible, thanks to the CAM there is no clunk when crossing the center. Currently I'm using the "smooth" CAM profile, which was already assembled. Included was another CAM profile, one with a more noticable center,I have yet to try it out. Anyone who is using MFG Crosswind or Slaw pedals knows the advantages of using CAM profiles.

It's also possible to adjust the spring strenghts, there are 2 notches to adjust tension. It should also be no problem to use stronger springs if anyone wants even higher tension.

The Grip itself is of the same outstanding quality as the base. The Buttons are all easy to reach and require less force than the Warthogs, which is a good thing in my opinion. One feature I really like is the Trigger and how it is used to secure the Gun and Cannon button. It needs to be flipped down in order to "arm" the weapons. None of the 4 buttons can be pressed by accident.

I had to modify my Chair in order to get full deflection, as expected the Stick has a very large throw and you need to operate it with your whole arm. This propably needs some time to get used to. After around 2 hours of flight it didn't get uncomfortable.

It's the best Stick I've used to date, and I tried many. After desperately trying for months to get hold of a VKB Stick or the Gimbal upgrade for the Black Mamba ( I have a Black Mamba MK.I,but never liked the Gimbal system). I'm glad I had such a bad luck with VKB,otherwise I would have missed out on Baur's excellent work!

I am about to buy me a authentic Westland Whirlwind Helicopter Control Column and Grip
finally found one worth buying, Boy those eBay prices. And I am interested in your base for it.

My guess is your USB controller card only have room for 4 buttons. but I will see what I can do with my usb controllers.
What is the price just for the base?

Oh, this is good Stick! It is perfect to the joystick BRD-N. Another batch of parts in production. Everything will be ready in about autumn. Many items, many large joysticks mechanisms. To our controller, you can connect a lot of buttons. It's not a problem. Just write - how much should be public?

July 2012. Stick and the lever of the Mi-8.

Stick of the Mi-24.

@ Sokol My yoke is perfect for bomber duties smile
But my interest is fading away so I need a stick for Helicopter and single engine plane. The thing about hardware in flight sim is , you cannot go back, just ahead.
I have seen these offers, except the Hind . The stick I got my hand on was way much cheaper.

But I am in for a collective too......

EDIT: I bought this one for 146 GBP one fifth of the price many demand for similar sticks and this one is in pristine condition with wiring and buttons intact.

So now I have ordered a Base from Baur and start rebuilding my Throttle setup

btw that Yoke are for sale 😁

LuseKofte,

did you post build threads for your trim+button box and throttle quadrant? I'm intrigued.
Also I'd love to read about your throttle Q rebuild when you get to it smile

Thanks for the interest, right now I use sliders and those have worked just fine. But I need to get it to my right side and I will have a collective stick added. I hope to use Hall sensors when I do, I just not sure if hall sensors are useable for throttles.
My throttle is a authentic cessna Bobcat bomber trainer from 1942 , it was not expencive per se , I think I payed 245 $ for it. And I think they got more of it in US
I can take pictures when I start. The panels are to be reworked since they take up two USB cards, I might sell them also, not sure

BRD-N - is floor mounted base, for use with extension, due this is more big and reinforced than others bases.

See in this drawing the comparative size between BRD-N and BRD-DS:

Drawings of WiP versions for removable grips.

DRD-DS - is a base for use with extension, but short one, mounted direct bellow chair seat level.

BRD-D - is desktop version.

Can be fitted inside Defender Cobra M-5 case:

Or used with BAUR metal case as desktop joystick:

Question for those of you who have bought a BAUR BRD stick: How's the gimbal and cams? I own a VKB Mamba, and love it. The movement is smooth, the controller precise, however, with my 20cm extensions, the center is too soft and could use a little dampening.

So, how is that done with the BAURs sticks? The gimbal looks hefty, there are dual-cams inside, and everything looks really high quality - but how does it feel to you? Some comparison with other sticks - esp. the Mamba - would be appreciated!

Thanks!

PS: Does anyone know if BAUR makes adapters for the TM Warthog or VKB Mamba grips?

I'm using a BRD-DS, I can not compare with a VKB Mamba with the new Gimbal. I own a MK.I Mamba and the only thing I can say that the BRD-DS base is larger than the Mamba and the stick is longer, it's around 50cm from bottom of the base to the top of the grip wiht the lowest setting. Height can be adjusted via 3 sets of screw holes. The throw is propably also larger than with an extended Mamba.
There are 2 sets of CAM profiles included. One is with a noticable center where you feel a slight bump when you travel fast through the center. The other profile, which I personally prefer, has no noticable center. Still it centers perfectly when you let go of the stick.

I believe it is planed to produce adapters for Warthog and Cougar grips. I don't know when it will be ready. As far as I know there will be no adapter for the Mamba. But it's possible to attach the grip of the Mamba,I've seen pictures of it. But I think it is some DIY necessary.

I'm very satisfied with the BRD-DS ,but the BRD-N still gives me sleepless nights. I might need to give in to the urge and get one of those. ^^

For Warthog/Cougar (Wip) - BRD-DS

http://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/2087-obzor-igrovogo-komplekta-ot-brd/page-18#entry443905

For VKB grips don't expect adapter - are too much "Bonfire of Vanities" between Russian controller makers,- so the "rule" is, don't touch in products of others. smile

But at same time some are associated, e.g. Baur use Komaroff sensors, Kreml controller, GVL/Mega-MOZG hardware/software. wink

Thanks for the detailed answer, Lausbub!

Follow-up question - compared to your old Mamba, how does the center feel with the extended BRDs? Does it feel loose or does it feel a bit more tight? The reason I am asking is that when just touching my extended Mamba, it feels as if there is no resistance - it feels too light. It's not a bad thing, mind you - just something I would like not have. What I would prefer is a stick that is dampened around the center, and requires some more force to move.

Baur's gimbal looks so hefty, with large springs, that I simply assume it feels more dampened by default. Can you share your experience with it? Especially considering the extension you described. smile

Thanks for the info, Sokol; that Warthog adapter looks really good. Baur's doing some amazing work there! smile I only recently got the BRD-F3 Rudders and love them.

So, what is this about Russian "Bonfire of Vanities" that you're referring to? Are VKB and BAUR some sort of "enemy"? If so - how did that happen? I mean, it's all about the flightsim community, isn't it? smile

In the MK.I Mamba the center is very noticable because of the Gimbal Design. It uses a similar design like CH Products Joysticks.
The center of my BRD is indeed very light with not much resistance. When traveling through the center you feel no bump, but you still know exactly when you are centered by feel because of the lowere resistance. But when you move the stick just a bit, maybe between 1-1,5cm the resistance builds up quickly. I imagine when I would use the strongest spring setting it would require less travel until the resitance starts to build up.
There are 2 notches for the spring in each CAM Profile,so you have 3 possible strenghts for the spring. I'm using the middle setting,I imagine the lowest would be too light while the strongest would be too strong ,if I would need to hold the stick forward to fly level for a longer time.
If the strongest setting would still be too soft you could propably use a stronger spring.
As you own the BRD pedals,I guess there are also 2 different CAM profiles included? You can propably compare the "free center" one with the "free center" ones from my Stick.

Thanks again for the detailed description, Lausbub!

So I guess any spring-based gimbal has the same issue - while the spring is contracted, the center will be loose and that can lead to some potentially unwanted controller input, as the magnetic sensors register the slightest of movements.

I wonder if there are any types of dampers that can be added to a controller that makes the center somewhat less loose to begin with... That would be ideal imho. I had hoped that Baur had a solution for that integrated already by the means of the dual cam system.

Oh, and the Baur BRD pedals did only come with one cam profile... Which has a very light 'bump' in the middle, that can hardly be felt. Maybe that's the equivalent of what you're using?
