Hey guys,

I have nearly all the weapon systems down pat except the M-151 missiles. I can point and launch but there appears to be a way to guide them. Is that correct, and if so, how do you do it?

Thank you in advance.

McKinn

AFAIK, M 151 are rockets, and therefore (still) Unguided...

If I'm not wrong the US Marines have completed a study on mounting a laser receiver on those rocket's tips to get them on a target with the Targeting Pod, but unlikely anything like that is modelled in DCS World.

Thanks mate. Wasn't quiet sure if they were guided or not.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm learning a lot and enjoying every moment smile

Just to confirm, the M-151 is, in fact, an unguided rocket.

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/hydra-70.htm

There is a laser guided 2.75-in. rocket out there, but not on the Huey, and not in DCS.

Best to shoot those M-151s in pairs or fours.

You can use CCIP or CCRP with rockets on the A-10C. BTW the M257 is quite handy at night in MP it lights up the ground quite good, CCRP only for illum rockets.

CCRP rockets are not implemented in Warthog. The mode is selectable but the aiming references, numbers, etc. are not correct. Height over target (target+z) calculations are also not included.

?

CCRP aiming for rockets works perfectly, and always has.

You have to use CCRP for illum rockets. BTW SPI height can be adjusted.

Surely not "always." In beta-whatever the ASL was reverse steering. Quite a while ago I did some testing. RAN didn't show over a value of (if I recall) 9 no matter the range or maneuvers of the aircraft. It was quite broken. I try it again and it behaves differently now (stealth update?). I see RAN values of 35+ which never happened before. I even briefly saw a 45 while pointed away from the ASL.

I don't have access to TO 1A-10C-34-1-1 so I'm going off incomplete information. The DCS manual isn't too helpful. Can you please describe and demonstrate CCRP rockets? The specifics I'm interested in are:

1. Demonstration of symbology when well beyond maximum rocket range and how the symbols indicate so.
2. Method of recognizing that the aircraft has entered within maximum range.
3. What the RAN means precisely (FPA, pitch angle, angle delta, total angle).
4. Demonstration of the HOT feature to place an illumination rocket a chosen height over SPI.

Nearly unrelated but I noticed a bug that M156 WP rockets have all manner of CBU-type settings associated with them in INV/PROF pages of the SMS.

---

With the illumination rounds you don't adjust SPI, you set a height over target (HOT) in the weapon profile. The cleverness extends to having an estimated burning duration and descent rate such that the FCC aims such that 50% through the burn duration the flare descends through the selected height.

I learned off the tutorial, when I get some spare time I'll look into it. IMO the gun is what I always use although I do have a rocket man load out of all rockets HE lol.

Played with these a while back and I was just eyeballing the shots.. I was having pretty good results by flying straight and level and firing one or two around 6 miles from what you want lit up. (Around there anyway) I would take them on every night mission if I could figure out how to employ them more effectively.
