Yeah, some of those hauls were definitely healthier than others. I notice they forgot the DPRK. or as they would claim

I find that hard to believe.... or I'm just not "normal"?? Even the "British" one-week groceries looks like two carts' worth of stuff, but at the moment my family gets more than enough with about one cart for more than a week. Maybe it's all the rice that we eat? Or because my two boys are still young and maybe counts as "one person"?

It is from this book by Peter Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio: Hungry Planet: What the World Eats http://www.amazon.com/Hungry-Planet-What-World-Eats/dp/0984074422In the book, the authors (who took the pictures in the home of each family) also conducted interviews with the families, talked about their dining habits, and how it is changing given the changing conditions in each country. For example, two families were interviewed in China - one from the city and another from the rural area, with fascinating differences in their diet. Also note the prevalence of processed food in most of the families but especially in developed worlds. Very highly recommended book. Cheers,

I think it's interesting to see the countries that don't have boxed and packaged food all around. They eat well.

WTF! Thanks God I'm not married! Look at how much stuff they consume in one week! (exception: note the Chad family and a how few items they have )

that pile of $hitty junk food for USA is disgusting.
Boxes of candy bars, piles of pizza, potato chips, rows and rows of soda bottles, WTF?
It's all processed food or take-out... I bet those tomatoes and grapes sit in the fridge for a month and go bad without getting eaten

I find it hilarious that a black family has to represent USA to keep it all politically correct. Otherwise a great showcase of different cultures around the world.
I thought it was about food.

Why, what does a "normal" American family look like?

The Australian one doesn't seem like a good representation at all. Not a beer, wine, or pre-mixed drink in sight. At least they got the smokes though. The German one is the most appealing to me personally, and the French guy needs to lock up his daughters.
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.
