Can someone point me in the direction of the best free video capture program? I have heard of FRAPS but not sure if that is still the best.

The free version of fraps doesn't do full videos, only short clips. Good for screenshots though.
For continuous video, you need the paid version.

Xfire has a nice one, but it only works with games Xfire supports with that feature, so not a great option.

Kludger uses something else, I can't remember what. There aren't that many good options out there.

I had an epic match at lunch, but if we employ the "pics or it didn't happen" rule, then I got nothing.

What do you use for screenshots? Print Screen didn't work for me.

Yeah I use 'Dxtory' which is another paid capture utility similar to 'Fraps' which I also own but with more power features and less framerate impact.

I've also heard that XFire and MSI Afterburner which are both free work well.

You just have to experiment.

BTW in the meantime if you want to capture a screenshot, you can use CTRL-PrintScreen to do screenshot to the clipboard and then when out of MWO open Paint and paste.

About how big is a 5 minute long video, captured by fraps or dxtory, at 1080p?

About 14 GB for 5 minutes.

Dxtory I record at 720p at 1GB/min (not an option with FRAPs as it just uses what your resolution is)
